To get the damn glove box door from popping open on a rough road? The latch and everything appears to be operating correctly on my '68. I've tried moving the catch to different positions and some washers under the latch and nothing seems to fix it.
ratchet strap
If I remember correct, there are two different kids of catches for the latch, one is like a solid wire, the other is like a spring loaded crossbar, I have the solid wire type & my glove box has never popped open .

Hmmmm, mine is the spring loaded bar. Can the solid wire unit be purchased?

a used one I am sure, after some research, I would clean & lubricate the button latch real well & see if that helps 1st.
Take the spring loaded striker off, push a plastic clip into the spring holes so it isn't spring loaded anymore and viola no more popping open.
don't drive on rough roads :D
Try duct tape. ;D

Thank you, thank you, thank you!! I've been putting up with that thing for 20 years. I just beat the heck out of the dash and the door didn't budge.......,
That must be why the Duke boys welded the glove box door shut.
