Title: computer help needed - Lightscribe NOW WORKING
Post by: poppa on December 20, 2018, 05:52:01 PM
Hi , we have a pc that got a virus or something , not sure if it was partitioned or what. Got it back (works) with very basic programs ,some were just trial. Anyway ,it had lightscribe and I would like to get this up and running again as I am off from rotator cuff surgery and daytime tv sucks! Do I just need software? Drivers? It came with the pc (it's an HP) originally so Im guessing it is considered an internal drive??  Not very computer literate but I hear about these a lot. I think it has Windows 10 now. Thanks for your time

Thanks for the link John. I've tried that a few times and it does nothing. I think I am going to need the actual Lightscribe disc to get the drivers. Or I'll have to take in my tower.

I tried to load Roxio cd and then Avery , there is nothing. I should be getting a window asking me what to do with the disc , save , install , etc, I was on the computer last night until I couldn't look at the screen anymore. I may have to take it in or buy an external LS cd player/burner. Thanks and Happy New Year!

I have a LS unit on my old HP NX6320 Laptop ( upgraded from a non LS unit originally got ) and on the last windows refresh I think the driver is not there. I never have tried a LS CD anyway and dunni how it works, but I hope this thread will help me to fix it if times comes... thanks for posting!

Nacho , That may be what happened with mine also. I haven't used it for awhile and mine went from Windows 7 or 8 to 10. Good thought , forgot about that.

Nacho , In Windows , go to -device manager , find -dvd/cdrom , right click , click UNINSTALL (NOT DELETE) , restart , see if your drive works. No ? Go to devise manager , find -IDE ATA/ATAPI , right click , click UNINSTALL (NOT DELETE) , restart. in Windows these will reinstall upon restart. I now have cd/dvd capabilities. LightScribe next (hopefully)

Go to the lightscribe control panel , click on it , open the middle tab , it will tell you if there's a recognized driver.
