Anyone remember this contraption?
Goody's Daytona ?
Formerly the Dave Marcis Dodge Daytona. Currently the Winston Cup Dodge Daytona on display at the Winston Cup museum. A real survivor car.
Previously the A.J. King #1 Charger driven by Pete Hamilton. Then Marcis owned the car until 1977. Sold to a collector in Milwaukee Wis who turned it back into the #30 Daytona. Then brokered to the the next owner who did it in Goody's colors (no Petty or any other racing Superbirds were available). Then to the current Winston paint.
Here is the car as it arrived from Marcis in 1977.
With the soon to be Uncola Pete.
Updated to Charger 500.
AJ King ceases operation and car passes to Dave Marcis
Updated to a Daytona
Backdated for 1971
Eventually becoming an LMS car that Marcis rented out. I believe could be the same car.
Restored in 1977.
Sold at the end of 1981 and vandalized with the Petty treatment.
Soiled further with the RJR / Winston paint it retains today.
who actually owns the car today? the museum? or just on loan there?
I had the original "A" trim off that car. (car today does not have it)
I traded them to Milt Wood for an NOS piece, to match the other NOS piece for the 88.
Milt was going to put them on the Iggy tribute...
