The man who owned it before CAMopars lived in MO, he belonged it HPAC HIGE PERFORMANCE AUTO CLUB outa KC. IT was at the meets annual show in KC last year before it sold on e-bay for $124.000 i think. Some thing is wrong hear, it had AC on in KC even the dash frame was changed. Now look at the pics, NO AC. I spoke with the past owner and he told me that the car was vary ruff when he got it-bad rust. Hope it is not a rebody!.Buyer be ware.   JR. :icon_smile_cool:

This should be the old thread on this car. Member 65post had an interesting old advertisement.

I like it on that car for sure!  Kinda odd isn't it that someone would go through the trouble to make a car like that "non-AC" ?
Title: Re: Daytona
Post by: 69_500 on February 06, 2006, 09:38:04 AM
Chris, if you read the old post though you'll see that I'm the one that took a stab and guessed it was car XX29L9B414395. I was going off of the information of it being car number 394 on the shipment list. I was lazy and used a sheet Gene sent me, and he said it was off by a few digits from the list.

However it does appear by the old add that 65Post put on there that XX29L9B414395 could have been rebodied along the way. Tan interior car.

The car looks to still have the A/C hole in the firewall in the new Ebay pics.

Edit: After looking closer that may just be the heater core hole for non A/C. I will look for some pics of a A/C firewall.

Those may be two different cars.  The license plates are different, and BBS is right, seems like an awfully-fast turnaround time for a resto paint job.  Could be wrong on that though.

What I don't get, is the T5 eBay cars' claim to be the first Canadian Export Daytona...  Not anywhere close, from my records.  If that car's VIN ends with 635 as the radiator core support pic shows, then it's car #394 from the list as Danny pointed out on a previous thread.  414619 is the first Daytona shipped out anywhere, much less Canada.

Doesn't make sense to me...

I agree - comparing it to my firewall - I don't even see the heater blower motor nor the hole for it..
There's no hole for the control valve, either.

If they are 2 different cars the same owner has two original Canadian T5 Daytona's with non #'s drivetrains and no buildsheets. If you look at the email address in the Deals on Wheels add and the Ebay auction they are the same. Both are also in Westminster, CA. :shruggy:

Thanks for the pic. Definately not an A/C firewall in there now so it looks like the firewall was either changed, welded up, or this is another car.  ???

Is that picture even of an aerocar. I can't make it out very clearly, but it doesn't look like it's got the rear window plug in it.. Looks like the original rear pillars are still visible....

I think dodgecharger-fan was only posting a shot of an A/C firewall, not necessarily an Aerocar A/C firewall.  Good eyes though!

I thought that the Daytona's sold to the public didn't have the hole cut in the fender for the scoop.  I guess that isn't true?

Nope,, unlike the later Superbirds, the Daytonas actually had the cutouts and screen......

Daytona's did have the hole, Superbirds did not.

The hole might be great for on the track, but you can mess up a nice paint job with rocks, mud, debris that flies through that screen.  Some guys will stuff a sponge in the scoop while cruising to keep the crud from chipping the paint on the fender.

*edit* Yeah, what Troy said!!!...   :P

I've always liked how people put spounges in the scoops on their daytona's. Its kind of funny when you notice at a show that they removed 1 of them but forgot about the other one.

On my car, I am going to mask out the top of the fender, and use pin stripe tape to mask off the pattern of the screen, then use matte black paint to make a screen like appearance under the scoop, and when I remove the tape, it will apprear to be screen, but will only be paint, this will keep the dirt off the fenders, and look correct if anyone looks under the scoop!

couldn't you apply something black to the underside of the vent to cover it but keep the appearance?

I was going to say to go ahead and cut the hole, and put in the screen, but attach something to the inner fender to cover up the hole. So it would be there, but something could act as a barrier for the dirt and debris.

This is car 414635 I saw 10 years ago in Montreal before it was sold to a guy in western Ontario who then sold it to someone in the US.These are not the pics I took of the car but it is the car.Car was VERY rough with no motor or trans but it did come with the fender tag.The wing in the pic is not white but raw aluminum.

65Post,

I believe it is the same car as the Bronze one being advertised now.

The white car is not the same car however. The white car got thrown into the mix by a mistake I made in the last thread, I put in the wrong VIN by the shipment list.

That's cool Dave.. All I meant was that Rich didn't own it.. That listing is pretty much a mute point now that the car's been painted T5... I've seen that ad before.. The original question on the thread addressed the current ebay ad and who knows info on it and I pointed out that it wasn't Rich, but Dave....

Man   that a friend's car, Jim. I have drove the Daytona as well and it is a sweet ride. I just called Jim but got his voice's mail.

Jim got the Daytona out of Canada and a rust free Charger out of Calf. He had to replaces the right frame rail's and rocker. Also did use the fire wall for the AC.

Geno, Jim Daytona was at Monster Mopar in 2002 and 2003 as well.

All I can hope is Jim is selling because he has found something cooler, not because he need's the money. About 2 year's ago the company he worked closed.

Jim took 4 year's to do the work, Daytona was done at his house with help of some friends. Inside look's like it is 1969 again look's perfect.

Dave, if you go to Jan's moparts.com "cars for sale", there's a listing there as well...

1969 Charger Daytona, T5 Copper, AT, PS, PB. $190K OBO.

Contact Dave at sixpack@gte.net or call 714-742-2832 for more details.

I believe Rich's email address starts with 69sixpack or something to that effect for he has a '69 1/2 "M" code Superbee.........

sixpack@gte.net   is Dave's email, not Rich's in Fl.

So did anyone ever figure out what the VIN was for the white car on ebay a few months back then? It wasn't the T5 car, I was the one who posted the wrong VIN to begin with and never got around to trying to figure out what VIN it should have been.

Sad to think about it, but that same statement probably applies to a lot of cars...

She's gone!   Someone bit the bullet and hit the BIN for 185k!   Looks like they took the tag pics off as well.

Gonna be a real nice color combo Daytona when she's finished

They pulled the pics of the tag last night before I went to bed, so I didn't get to see them until Chris posted them just now.

And FWIW, it is indeed car #394 on the Ship List.  I don't know what prompted that VIN or # from the list to come up before, but I double-checked my spreadsheet against the newsletter lists and it is correct at that point.

Are there traces of white paint on the tag?

Run far away? What makes you say that?
Do you have some pertinent information about the car for sale?

By the way welcome to the site.

Thanks for the welcome 69500...

What makes me say run?

Maybe I was overly harsh, but it was a very rough car to begin wth that's all, and has gone through many changes. See all the other posts in prior two pages.

By the way John, I'm Danny Liebrandt, we did a video shoot with you at Englishtown. If you recall. I didn't have a car there that weekend, was just doing a video.

Hopefully I'll be back at Englishtown. I don't think my dad will make it with me this year, so it will probably be just me there.

The 500 is fine, or at least it was when I parked it in November. Haven't gotten it out since then. If all goes well I might drive it over to either Englishtown or Carlisle this year.
