What Silver or Chrome paint did you use for restoring your Rallye Cluster on a 69 Charger?
I don't like the silver I used.
I used some chrome spray paint out of a can. Not happy with it either and someday I might just pull the dash trim out and send it out for rechroming like it should be.
If you are looking for the next best thing try Bare Metal Foil, used in modeling to simulate chrome trim. It's inexpensive, and you just need a good set of eyes and a steady hand with a X-Acto blade.
I used Alclad on top of gloss black. Looks great but it's not the easiest to use.

For a dash bezel any of the "chorme spray paints will not need clear on them which will still let them be "reflective" but will burnish to the touch. Any of the chrome paints will need to be clear coated if in durability is needed. Then the oil base clears have a tendency to yellow :Twocents: After my research I had my bezels replated :2thumbs: Wasn't to costly and they painted it all up too!
the only way to do it is really getting them rechromed... otherwise is just a "weekend resto" look
I agree Nacho. There are actually home plating kits..but you wont save a ton of money that way.

I agree. I had dash bezels redone in two other cars, they look great. I hate the way the chrome paint looks.

Who rechromes them and do you remember about what it cost to have rechromed. We have a chrome shop in Quincy Il. but they said they do not do plastic.
use aluminum duct tape.
it forms to contours real well and it can be polished to a mirror finish.
I tried to post a picture but wasn't able to.
I could send a picture via text message if anyone would care to send me their phone number. .then they could post it.
I used the following in WI for the Vacuum Chrome Plating of Plastic bezels. Very happy with the results.
Chrome Tech usa
2314 Ravenswood Rd.
Madison Wi. 53711
I talked with Robert.

Plastic chroming is not like metal chroming. For metal it's dunked in several (caustic) solutions. Plastic is more of an electrostatic spray (officially "Vacuum Metalizing" I believe).
Try these guys:

CV Vacuum Platers who used to be highly recommended but went out of business. Seems these guys picked up the slack:

A Google search found these guys but I know nothing about them:

And the ones mentioned above:

Here's a *very* dated post with some pricing:

Another old one but they appear to still be in business:

Chrome Tech did my AC vent bezel. Performance Car Graphics did my dash bezels about 15 years ago....I want to say they used CV vacuum platers for the plating itself
Silver Sharpie works for me...
I'd actually used the aluminum tape on a friend's project before...it might be worth a shot.
Other than that, you'd likely have to send it off and spend $$.
There's a Silver paint pen.
I couldn't post pictures of my aluminum duct tape rally se instrument cluster. so I posted a short video on you tube. search ( aluminum duct tape bezel ) its .58 seconds long
Wow. That looks really good! Here is the link so u don't have to search: https://youtu.be/KBls8stCxrs
How do you trim the edges? x-acto/Exacto knife? Won't it come off over time?
exacto knife and a piece of a bondo spreader to push the aluminum tape around the edges. the rectangles around the switches are one piece and the round instruments were strips that butted together at the bottom of each gauge.
of coarse I did the radio bezel and above the glove box. I guess I have less than a $1.00 worth of tape on it.
