Street Machine August 1976

These pictures and the accompanying stories contained within are from the August 1976 issue of Street Machine magazine. That issue mentioned - and the engine shot contained - in a post by nascarxx29 in the Big Willy Daytona thread immediately caught my eye so I dug that magazine out of my 'library'. Sure enough there is the same engine pic used in the 'Hemi On Tap' car feature although it is not from a Charger 500 as a knowledgeable eye can tell :scope:

It's pure and welcome stress relief to learn from the postings in this section as well as the entire site and perhaps these pictures can provide a bit of magazine history for someone's Aero Car  :2thumbs:

Machado's silver Daytona was the bomb.   What a beautiful car, and it had the crap driven out of it too.

I lived a few blocks from Joe M. and was at the photo shoot (at a chruch in the area) for that issue of Street Machine....they were good times.......I had a Hemi Superbird at the time thanks to Joe M. and Jim R. who introduced me to the guy who was selling it.   A friend and I would hangout at Joe's house and talk Mopars, while taking in his Daytona and other wingcars that would drop by...it was great.  The good old days, when I used my Superbird as a daily driver.

I remember that photo shoot.  7:00 Friday night, the phone rings.  It's Jim Radke, and he says a car magazine wants to do a photo shoot the next day in So Cal (I'm in Phoenix) and the club wants as many cars as possible to be there.  Can my brother and I bring one or two of ours over tomorrow morning?  We decide the Tor-Red 'Bird (currently owned by redbird) is the best choice for the trip, and we're up at 0 dark o'clock Saturday morning for the drive.  Our car really wasn't presentable enough to make the magazine, but we got to meet several more members of Winged Warriors that day, and had a great time. :2thumbs:

If you got to run a front license plate, that's the way to do it tucked under the
nose without the bracket.

Another daytona that had the grille chromed and it to was also a performance car show car

During the mid 80's a TV star named Susan Richardson owned a blue w/a black stripe '69 Daytona. It was for sale in California as my dad and I went and looked at it. She wanted 10 grand for it, we offered 8500. No deal was made. Just curious if anyone here has known of the car or have an old Hot Rod issue from 1985 or so where car was for sale in the adds in the back like they used to do back then. She was on the TV show *Eight is Enough* at the time.
Any info. welcomed.

The blue car is Radke's Hemi car.    It has nothing to do with Richardson's Daytona.

nascarxx29

The landrover car of XX29L9B409039 Richard Richardson also seen in the same street machine magazine .Was suspected to be linked to the actress Susan Richardson

I'm sure Sean M. knows for sure, but I believe they are different cars.  The green daytona doesn't have "hemi" emblems.

Hello Bruce..  Yes they are different cars.  The blue one was an original F6 hemi automatic that Radke painted blue and then sold to Pete H. later on.   The Green (sassy grass) was a 440 v2 automatic that Radke sold to Joe Slama in 78-9.  Joe sold it to Vernon Judy in 91.  It sat in his back yard till about 2005 where it was stolen ?  not paid for.
