Title: Concours Restoration INFO
Post by: boss429kiwi on June 17, 2012, 01:56:06 AM
Hi Guys (please don't hate me for the below comments)

I am trying to find concours restoration information for a Superbird.
Such as: Assembly process, part finishes (Bolts, brackets, suspension etc), detail production marks (paint stick marks, paint dabs etc), photos of original markings etc

Websites/forums for Mustangs such as Boss 429, Cobra Jets, are full of photos and accurate information about concours restoration, however there is very little about Superbirds, or am I looking in the wrong places. There is very little discussed on this forum etc There is a lot of restoration photos and information, but not concours!

Which are the best Mopar mag, following concours restorations?
Which are the best Mopar web sites following concours restorations?

Maybe this forum needs a Concours Restoration area (just a thought).

I used these during the restoration of my '68 Hemi Charger R/T. As far as I know, there isn't a "one-stop-shopping" website or book that has everything..

http://www.iccahome.org/

http://www.rogergibsonautorestoration.com/product_review.htm

I'm almost positive the aerowarriors site has a nice page on detailed Superbird pictures (which could as well be used for B-body applications).

actually Troy's first link HAS a book for such things, and it's huge.  Dave Wise at ICCA is a wealth of knowledge, too.

Frank Badalson is another friendly source for occasional questions, too.

The ICCA web site is a great start.

Although the ICCA book is nice  :2thumbs:, please dont confuse it for gospel. Ive found more than a few mistakes and havent gotten completely through it yet. It may very well be the best thing we have but its not perfect.

Yes I agree.
I have learnt while restoring my Boss 429, not to copy photos. Homework is require with back up evidence, such as photos of original parts with marking etc. This is the information I am seeking.

I plan to restore my Superbird in the near future and want to start compling information now.

May be worth contacting David Patik. I purchased a document from him relating to concours judjing  of a Superbird. This has alot of information relating to finishes etc.
