Title: Wiper washers
Post by: EricS on July 14, 2021, 11:21:34 AM
I have not been able to find how to activate the windglass washer on my 66.
It seems to have a push button on the center of the wiper knob but makes nothing...

Well 12V comes from the wire but motor do not turn.
I pulled it off. I noticed small tabs on th ebottom. Can I open it to investigate further or are they prone to brake?
Sorry for the dark pics.

it could be opened, but if you don't get succes at second or third time, tabs will be prone to break when reassembling at 3rd or 4th time. maybe even at the second time.

Replacement pumps are available around thought. Maybe not exact to that one but sure some will work. So be free to play with it.

I don't think that is really the original one anyway. It looks too much clean and bright LOL

Did you check you get 12 volts at wire when pushing the wiper knob ?

Tap on it while powered up, sometimes the impeller sticks.

This car is pretty clean all around.
As said above I have well 12v arriving.
I can hear a small noise when putting 12v on the motor. It may be stuck. Or the pump might be stuck. I can't see how I could force it turning without opening it...

Shoot WD-40 in the hose nipple and smack it with power on.

cool

it seems the pump rotor is getting stuck with the fields around. Out of center, bushing damaged. It could be or not fixed, since theorically this piece is not serviceable.

it could be some also some debris getting stuck the rotor to the fields, or the impeller into the water housing... if so, will be fixable with just a cleaning

that picture you posted of your washer motor shows that it is the original one....if it's bad, reproductions are available
