El Dub, You raise a point, but I am for keeping politics off this site. :Twocents:
I'm really not talking politics, just political caricatures, or jokes about politicians. In other words, humor. Someone complained to the mod about some I posted and they were removed. That is pretty much over the top in my book. So take it a step further, being a democrat, if you want to remove one, remove them all. But don't worry about that, I will remove them for you. Gotta be a good democrat.
Why can't we just leave political stuff out..... There must be sites for that... I like Chargers.

I think the issue is that one person's joke can be another person's hot button.
Some areas are more touchy than others in this way, and some political humor can be that way.

Look at the OP. that's what Im trying to do. Get the rules bent a little for jokes. But I am going to forget it. Not worth my time. You can go back to: word association game

Well if one persons hot button is able to ruin it for the rest, so be it. That one person can start posting up something entertaining from now on. As I'm quitting.
El Dub,
That is a loss. Your posts have been funny and enjoyable.
There's times I wish we could discuss politics but it'd just go south fast.
We just need to remember who's site this is and what the rules are.
I would say if a politician fell off the stage or did something funny then that would be acceptable to laugh at. Then you're just laughing at the man and not political sides.
Even though we're members we're still kinda guest here as it's not our site. Don't take it personal dub. The moderators have been doing this for years and they know how things escalate.

while I can not imagine what it's like to moderate this site and take my hat off to those that do
I have to agree , humour crosses ALL divides and should be the one thing that is not censored .
the tinny minority that are offended by a cartoon /joke or an f bomb or two should use that thing called personal discretion and look elsewhere if they are going to be offended :Twocents:
The problem is there's no hard and fast line to enforce for personal disgression . And , when people light up the report to moderator link, something to follow is needed. I personally don't want people to leave over this , but we have rules in place for this....
For many of us, we don't see the harm in a little political humor. Unfortunately, when you have a political section, tempers, frustration, compassion, and opinions come out.
In the past I would post some of the same type of pictures in the Funny section and got blasted a few times - what ever. If someone can't be an adult and look at the funny aspect of something, go pound sand. Unfortunately, when you have a negative experience on a forum, you tend to not participate in discussions and start spending your time someone else. As the 'ol saying goes "there's a place for everything", and a politics section on this forum would do too much harm.
There used to be a politics section on another awesome forum called The AutoBody Store .com. They had a politics section and there was a good mix of each party on it. Over the years the negative side took over the positive, and the moderator had to remove the politics section. Since then, the site has been a huge resource again for people wanting to do body work.
Here is one of the biggest politics forums - http://www.politicalforum.com/
That's the problem. people leaving. The bad blood between members would spill over into other topics. It's just a topic that would create wedges and spite between members that doesn't exist. Not worth it.

Maybe tell the little democrats that dislike the posts about any democrat to shut their pie hole and grow the fuck up. You don't need more morons on your site. Or maybe it is the owner and the mods that are good little democrats., Either way that is the reason for deleting all my posts. If one person complains and you make the rest pay for that then I will delete all my posts and make the rest suffer for one moron. THAT is how dems do it. You don't like jokes then fuck it all up for everyone. Go ahead and delete this as I'm sure that the same little worm will complain. And I'll bet the worm doesn't even have a charger. Fuck the little worm.
BTW It doesn't bother me at all that you don't have a political section. In these times you couldn't find 7 out of 10 people who could carry on a conversation about politics, but, jokes are different
:popcrn:
I don't understand the commotion. One long-standing, sensible, and clearly communicated expectation on this site is to keep politics out of the discussion. In what way is that unreasonable or too difficult? (Political humor is still political and sometimes incendiary nonetheless.) Most people are capable of respecting that simple request by the owners. The few that aren't try to knowingly slip it in anyway, with predictable results, and then act surprised when they get warned. The only butt hurt I see is recrimination. The Mods truly have an unenviable task.
Personally, I liked a lot of El Dub's photos. But by deleting them, he seems to have taken his ball and gone home in a fit of pique. It's a shame but no one made him do it.
so, did someone get butt-hurt??
jeez guys you all need to stand back and take a breath :yesnod:
maybe take a page out of the "apathetic Australian"
the average Aussie's take on politicians and politics is this "there ALL crookeder than a dogs hind leg" :yesnod:
and it doesn't matter which party gets in its still the same for you and me ( the little guy) we're going to get screwed :nana:
I don't see anything wrong with political jokes, and wish the community was strong enough to handle a free for all political discussion section, but things do escalate and people's feelings get hurt and nowadays people complain about everything. We used to allow free and open political talk on our stealth/3000gt board and while it was available it got tons of activity and made the site a very active spot on the web, but that popularity drove prices up for advertisers and made things more complicated to the owners. We still allow political discussion it just isn't nearly as free for all as it used to be. They made one thread open at all times for political posts, but didn't allow new threads to be made.
I don't know, we seem to be doing pretty well right now without allowing it. Enough veterans stick around to help the newbies out. The regulars pretty much are car guys in general that can discuss just about anything car related or have a bunch of friends on here that they've met in person that use this site to keep in touch.
As far as dub's actions of deleting his pix, from what I understand, he done himself a favor. Personally, I liked some of them, but others, not so much.
I don't see a problem with having a political section. I live in the U.S. where free speech used to be both legal and encouraged, not censored.
If you don't like a thread then stop reading it! It's that simple and easy. :Twocents:
With that said, I do see that people get pretty bent out of shape over politics and religion, and I would hate to see people who would otherwise be good friends turn to enemies.

Yea, it's true but a shame that people can't have a lively debate without getting personal. I enjoy debating with people who have differing opinions, but only if it is kept respectful. It is a reflection of the divide in the U.S today and it seems more polarized and vitriolic than at any other point in my life.
I think it'd be great to discuss politics. As long as there's no democrats involved. :nana:

:iagree:
I agree to a point. Keep in mind that most of us here aren't good friends or even friends for that matter. We're internet Charger buds that haven't even met in person. Over the years I've made some friends here and spent time with them outside of this site. Not a lot but some. I've got lots of buddies on here and we get along great for the most part. But we don't hang out together outside of here, go shooting, ride motorcycles and so on. We are mostly all social media friends. I bet outside of here and away from Chargers most of us wouldn't be best friends but merely acquaintances.
Of course you would all want to hang out with me though. But that's just because I'm me and everybody loves me. :nana:
That being said, we can easily become against each other over differences of opinion.
I would bet that if we all lived close to each other we would have a much higher percentage of friendships than say the people you work with. That is to say if you have one or two Friends from work that you hang around with outside of work, you might have two or three of us Charger guys that you would hang around with outside of this site. These cars are a shared passion. How many Friends at work do you share a passion with?

Probably because I'm just not interested but I don't keep on politics. Can someone tell me why they enjoy discussing it so much?
Forget coming back with a smart ass answer about how you like to be informed in what goes on around you.
Is it the debates you enjoy? The confrontations? Trying to outwit your opponent in a game of words? Or is it the actual drama that interests people?
I've noticed at the last place I worked at people would just talk about politics like it was someones dirty laundry. That's what the draw was all about. Someone else that was in a position of authority doing something stupid.
I think there are a lot of self serving phony people out there, but also, they are the elected officials on the front line that make the hard unpopular decisions most fence huggers would refuse to do.
For me, Talking politics with friends is to gripe about something that I either disagree with or that I see having a negative impact on me. To have people talk about the opposing side hits a nerve and just :flame: I generally try to stay away from it on this forum, but will voice opinions if I think my side needs something said.

Yeah, I know. I tend to "let things go" as long as it's a civil discussion among adults. But, eventually, they all seem to degrade to rants, name calling, and insults. That's why it's almost easier to lock them immediately.
Troy
Looking back, I guess I instigated it. :brickwall: I shouldn't post when I'm tired. That's what got the CoC thread locked. :P
My fault. :slap:
It's a sad commentary on humanity that just like these threads things start civil, then deteriorate into insults, and finally outright war. People can't simply agreee to disagree, they have to kill those who disagree. It makes me wonder sometimes if humanity has what it takes to keep from destroying itself, or even deserves to survive. Will humanity turn out to be a failed experiment of nature or God, whichever you believe in?
What did somebody do? Start arguing? I guess I missed it again.
That's the thing. When somebody turns into an asshole others have to step in and tell him to STFU. Then it would work. Im just talking cartoons here, not political discussion. That's all I wanted, was to be able to have some comic relief to laugh at. What really kills me is everybody already knows all pols are pretty much stupid and should be laughed at. I mean, look how long it takes them to do something.

I think political correctness has swung the pendulum way too far to the left, and is about to swing back to the right. Many people are sick of it but afraid of the leftist ridicule they get labled with unless they quietly go along with the "correct" way of thinking, but come election time we may find that there is a silent support for a more politicaly incorrect but tougher U. S. that is no longer run by a bunch of pacifist cowards followed by a bunch a lemmings.
I think that is why despite Trump's loose cannon remarks he still is gaining support. People are willing to support anyone who is not a politician., and would rather have someone answer a question and put his foot in his mouth than a politician that when asked a simple yes or no question will talk for an hour without saying yes or no.
Just the fact that someone like Trump can have double digit support throughout the country shows how disgusted the people are with the corruption that is ruining our country. If our government was not so disfunctional and corrupt, someone like him would never have the level of support he does.
He isn't different than the others. He also is saying what he thinks people want to hear, trying out some ideas slowly and going for it he thinks it will draw support.
I'd take 1 leader who's rough around the edges, (not politically correct, strong, doesn't have time or care that someone's offended in the process of building forward and knows how to run big business) over 100 leaders that are weak, politically correct and bought and paid for career politicians.
There is so much waste in the fleecing of America that the words "you're fired" are coming.

I would love to vote for someone who is not so much of a loose cannon, but if all other choices are career politicians who are in so many pockets that they have to refuse to answer a direct question for fear of upsetting one of his or her owners then I can understand why people see him as the only choice to show their disgust with the corrupt status quo.
Bring me a fiscal conservative who is also a social moderate, who will also stop doubletalking and just answer the questions asked and that person will probably get my vote even if I disagree with some of his stands.

Also, the unlimited money that our supreme court so short sightedly allowed the PACs to use under the guise of free speech pretty much guaranteed that the bought and paid for politicians will be the only ones who get elected going forward.
Every civilization since the beginning of time has fallen eventually, and for any that have resembled a republic or democracy corruption was the downfall. We seem to be on that same road.

My government teacher in High school said that for our style of government to stay healthy we need a revolution every 200 years...... Weve been over due since 1976! I firmly believe this is the only way out of this mess.
I fully agree with that. Not as extreme but a mild version of revolution.
I'd just be happy to get common sense back. We traded common sense for politically correctness years ago.

I couldn't agree more! I think the popularity of Trump in in effect a revolution against the state of American politics and not really so much of an endorsement of Trump or his policies.
An honest straight talking politician would be nice, but it seems that "honest straight talking" and "politician" in the same sentence are mutually exclusive!

There is little question about Trump playing the game. ---He is playing the game that made him lots of money. He is playing the game that puts him high on his game.---He has become HIM.
I recall another presidential candidate that had success in becoming all they thought of themselves.---Achievement ---
When choosing a leader--we need someone with many attributes.---- Number one (after election) is to get over yourself and get to work.
Sadly it has always been a crap shoot as to whether the new leader will work at the job or just absorb the shine of the job.
The mechanism we have to change our mind about out leader- is a place that needs serious consideration. If we find ourselves in another eight years with no sensible redo option--many bad things can happen while we wait for the next go around.

Practice what you preach man...You're acting like a little kid that doesn't get what he wants by deleting your pictures and leaving this website.
now who's trying to get the thread they don't like locked :scratchchin:

Sure enough, I think I jinxed it by pointing out how civil this thread was. :brickwall:
I remember years ago I used to get peanut butter and grape jelly sandwiches for lunch in school. Then my mom started making peanut butter and honey sandwiches. I really loved the honey but missed the jelly.
This post makes as much sense to you guys as the post about el dub makes to me. :icon_smile_wink:

And for Lennard, did someone piss in your cheerios. I'm glad you follow what I preach. What is it I preach? And why do you follow me? And as you said earlier, I visit this website for my passion: Chargers.
If I want to read political topics, I can find those on a million other websites.
And yet here you are Lennard. All those pics I deleted Lennard, were in the joke section or the off topic section. You get off topic right Lennard. That's the area were we don't talk chargers.
Man the fuck up. You man the fuck up Lennard. I already explained why those pics got deleted Lennard. You don't like it, tough shit Lennard. Instead of stinking up this thread why don't you just click report to moderater.
I'm sure you know where it is. Go back and read the number one thread Lennard,
Mods, you need an ignore button on this site.
PS: this pic is for you lennard
Thank you for proving my point. Good luck with your political shit. :2thumbs:
And for your information: I've never used the "Report to moderator" button.
If this thread is any indication, it's going to be a long winter.

Thanks lennard, but I was talking about political cartoons, not political shit. And I hope maybe the mods seeing this may cut some slack on the humor.
And for proving your point Lennard. Why, again, did you click on the thread with politics at the top. Since you hate politics. Now, get the fuck out of this topic on politics. Or, stay and chip in.
Just a reminder, we do have people of all ages that do visit this site. We need to watch our language a little bit.
:o holy whole in a doughnut. :popcrn:
This thread is beginning to spiral. Time to real it in a little. Please clean up the language too?
so according to todays news reports someone in the presidential race ( no names will be mentioned ::) has been caught out blatantly lying :scratchchin:
how does it work over there ? if a "lying scumbag" gets caught out over here their expected to "fall on their sword" or their political career dies :yesnod:
people just don't trust a lying Politian , although they expect to be lied to its another thing to be caught at it :scratchchin:
do you think this development will make a difference to said liar
Hahahahahahaha lies are completely ignored by fans. As long as a person believes their candidate is doing good they don't fret over minor details like lying...
Troy
The real question is which of them has not been caught lying?
lying? changing one's mind to suit? having a personal and a political persona? All of these can be skills and virtues.
So, we have a thread about lying politicians that gets locked, but we discuss it here where the admin. joins the conversation. I have only one question: What are you people putting in your eggnog?
there are no names being mentioned  were just talking about politicians in general and would like to keep it that way ;)
and speaking of eggnog how is yours
I don't drink it. :eek2:
well happy holiday's anyway
notice PC in the politics thread :icon_smile_big:
Merry Christmas,
Drink more egg nog.
