I just read on Moparts that the silver fox passed away at 83 years old. RIP David. He was a worthy advirsary for the Mopar aero warriors!

It unfortunately is true. David had been in declining health the last couple of years.
Pearson only ran for the NASCAR title three times, and won all three years, 1966 for Cotton Owens, and 1968-69 for Holman-Moody. Then there is the run with the Wood Brothers in the 1970's where he won 30-some percent of the races he ran.
105 wins out of 572 starts. I think he and Petty finished first and second 63 times with Pearson winning 33 of them. Pretty incredible run. Most of the boys today aren't worthy to carry his helmet bag.

The finish of that race is what solidified my love for Pearson! I was pretty young but was already a fan of the Wood bros #21 and red and white paint scheme from magazines and Pearson had my same name.....I was hooked!
