Title: 3 speed wiper motors and linkage arm
Post by: AmadeusCharger500 on June 22, 2021, 09:53:04 AM
I have 3 motors. 2 of them work but don't park, one works and parks. I would like to use the one that works and parks but Im having a linkage issue.

The linkage arm fits this motor, but the motor does not park.

same linkage arm does not fit this motor. The motor parks. Its frustrating how similar the attachment bushing is.

Check the PN to find motor application

A 2 speed wiper motor and a 3 speed wiper motor use a different arm

Are all your motors the same ?

yes those motors are 3 speeds, definitelly, but is true the key shaft seems to be diff. Thats why I said maybe diff body application ( hence is better to search by PN ). 3rd gens and E bodies got hidden wipers system

It seems all are B/E body

I know earliers got a flat cap and laters got a black tower cap. It seems June 5 1972 could be the breakdown date for this change. Maybe this made also a difference on crank.

Fortunatelly these 3 speeds motors are easier to service than 2 speeds, and parts are still floating around. Open the cap and check if you find something wrong.

Just on a side note: I guess you are testing every motor with switch and motor propperly grounded, right?

Fantastic link thank you!
Here is the inside of the one that does not park. It appears there is a little spring on the smaller cam that is broken.

Here is the one that parks. That spring is more visible and intact. I see what you are saying about the year. this one appears to be 1972.
