I sent in my slider padded ash tray to get redone by them (along with a bunch of other parts), but they will not do it unless they do all the lower pads. Problem is my pads are pretty mint and they can't restore them correctly anyway (they can't replicate the fake stitching). At first I didn't care about the stitching, but the more I look the worse it looks without the fake stitching. They absolutely refuse to do it by itself, it's even black so no difficult to match later color.
Anyone know of a place that will redo just the ash tray pad?
Or anyone sending in the rest of the pads to Just Dashes so I can tag along with my ash tray pad?
I hate to have to buy another set of pads to send in just to get them to do this and preserve my nice originals.
I'm guessing here, but I would say the reason Just Dashes won't do a single component is that the finished product won't match the rest of the OEM dash pieces and you'll be unhappy with them (Just Dashes).
If all you need is that one component, the most likely solution is to keep on the lookout for a nice OEM part (of any color, since you could indeed dye it black). Put an ad in the Parts Wanted section of the forum too, if you haven't already. I took a look through the first couple of pages in that section and didn't see any listings from you, but it is definitely worth a shot.

....Tony's Parts
Only problem is he makes everything EXCEPT the pad I need, I have a slider ash tray which has a little pad on it. I have thought about getting a newer style ash tray as a stopgap until I can get mine sorted out..
Interesting, I don't know, nor have ever seen a "slider pad ash tray"?... :shruggy:

I believe they were in the early '68 cars, along with a few other oddities.
my 68 has the slider build date late April 68

The sliders are padded? Anyone have a picture handy? I don't think I knew this.

Interesting, I thought they were part of the early '68 differences, learn something everyday about these cars :2thumbs:
My 68 is a mid June production and has new style ashtray.
Never knew of the "slider" style ash tray. That actually looks a lot better imo...the square pull always seemed out of place.
I do like how much more real estate the slider style exposes...you could hide small screens back there!
And fwiw, I might suggest you ask around for a good, local upholstery shop. It will probably be done cheaper and quicker anyway. Assuming there are people into cars, someone in your area will either have a shop, or do the work on the side. Good luck!
I like better the slider one. Shifter doesn't disturb it!
