OK, so I get to the shop where this great eBay 69 Charger deal of a car is and this is what I picked up.
1969 Dodge Charger 383 AC car. All there (complete) straight solid body needing minor lower quarter patchwork and some electrical work. The grill needs some love but nothing to worry about. 4 Vectors and some miscellaneous extra parts. I was shocked at how straight and solid it was because in the pictures I was sent it looked like the trunk had rust holes and other areas. It turns out it's just paint pealing and chipping. I'll post some pictures in a few minutes.
Bottom line, this car was a great deal.
Nice score!
Why so cheap? Guy hard up for $$$$ :popcrn:

Sweet.
I take it you are building another General?
The interior is complete and running gear. Don't know if the motor runs or not. It needs to be gone through (whole car) It has a sure grip too. Wade and I are going to fix it up and sell it to you Mike. :2thumbs:

Great car, great buy, CONGRATS
I don't want anything you touched, tinker!!!!
Do you want to sell the vectors ?

I love a happy ending.
Just asking here, but is that a kink in the right rear frame rail at the leaf spring mount? Looks like the rail changes angles there, or maybe it's just the pic. :scope:
Either way, ya dun good. :yesnod:
good looking car :2thumbs:

He has the car and the pink slip.
Hahaha. Skips got it all. Who's your daddy? :nana: see you tomorrow ................................. maybe. I have a feeling this car will be running by Friday.
Nice catch, personally I don't see a 10k car though.
With the prices of Chargers lately, $10k is not too far off the mark.
I paid $10k for my 68 over a year ago. It was cheap then and with a whole lot more work needed than this 69
Well done guys. It is testament to those that good deals still do exist and honest sellers!

I don't either. 10k offered to me , and it would of been gone. Hard to beat a 100% return. I would say 5 grand was a good deal, but not incredible. It's still a non running car in need of a full resto. Just my opinion, Wish ya luck with it. Just glad to see another one saved. Keep us posted on your progress.
Yeah, it's just nice to see another one saved.

I questioned the value earlier as the selling price will always be lower for a non running car. Never know if it was gonna be a simple fix or cost ya thousands. You made out and got lucky on this deal. I'd still be tempted to let it go for that 10k, but you're right. If you guys can get it painted and new interior in quickly, it just may maximize your profits. Good luck with it, whatever you choose.

Trav
Just talked to the Johnny Johnson. He was the owner since 1985 before selling it to the guy in Las Vegas who owned it for 3 days,( He paid 12k) before we bought it. He said he bought this car out from under Warner Bros. They were running 2 weeks late to pick it up and he offered the guy $500 more for the car and got it. He couldn't remember what cam was in it but it has 10 to 1 compression and is built to race with a 3:91 suregrip. The trans. was built to hold 2nd gear longer until you let your foot out a little and then shift. He was not sure if its #'s matching. He was a great to talk to and filled us in on everything he could remember. He has been following this thread and joined the site. He is a huge Charger fan and still has a 69 General Lee. :2thumbs:

Hey
Hope your going to toss the incorrect pushbar over your left shoulder , this would be a good Charger for kikgas01 shane .
6 pages on this charger , i thought you must have got a 500 or Daytona ,for the amount of interest .
K.c
Hey Johnny, welcome to the site. It was great taking to yo yesterday and thanks for all the info. Chuck.
Far as six pages, it's pretty common to have lots of pages when a car is purchased at a really low price (steal IMO) and the new owner post as they fix it up or as they find things about the car. That why it's a thread in Charger discussion on a Charger site about a Charger. I apologize for this thread being tooooooooo long but I'm not done and it's MY thread. :nana: Chuck ........
definately alot of interest in this car. it was a great find and will probably tripple this amount of pages easy. i for one am enjoying how this is turning out. keep the posts coming chuck. :2thumbs:

As of now Wade's going to have his body paint guy fix the lower quarters and paint it Hemi orange. Possibly have the GENERAL LEE graphics (01, text, and flag) air brushed on. Today we are going to check gear oil in the rear end,, tie the battery down and see just how quick this car is now that the rear tires are fat and should help with traction. This car wants to go sideways with just 1/3 throttle. After paint I would guesstimate this car being in the $18k to $19k range. The AC doesn't work but is all there nor does the heater. Then again, it's not a $30,000 car, just a driver as you fix it. FAST DRIVER.

a/c & heater no work , can be fixed or removed as & when ! not much of a biggie either especially as you say all the parts are there !!
goes side ways ;D wonder what rear end gears are in it ??
keep the pictures & up dates coming Chuckie :2thumbs:  :popcrn:

Why Hemi Orange vs. Corvette Flame Red? :popcrn:

3:91 Sure grip
Hemi orange is just fine for a GL. I did mine Hugger orange and I thought it was perfect. I guess it's just preference as to what shade of orange you want. This way the car can be converted to a General Lee or left as a Hemi orange Charger. So you see the car can go both ways just like Wade does. :smilielol:

I think I saw your old car while heading into Pahrump last year, or year before... :2thumbs: Looked good, for sure!!! :Twocents:
That would be mine. It was the only one in town. Thanks.
The rear end is a 3:91 posi. Hold onto your shorts when you let that motor go. Its a defininate neck breaker..LOL
Most people ignore the power potential of the good ol' 383!! Its a great motor that will deliver impressive horsepower and torque (when built right). :yesnod: :yesnod:

Why is it, I have a strange filling.. before long I am going to be removing a friend off my friend list :-\ :-\
Why?????
K.c., thanks for thinking of me. I really appreciate that.
Anyone familiar with a relocation program. Chuck is leaving today and I need to move because he said he is coming back! My beer is all gone and the plumbing is screwed. :nana:
Moving and plumbing are very expensive. If you can afford to fix the plumbing, I would buy a big, NASTY dog and put him on a chain near your door... Teach him a new work for "KILL". Make the new work "SKIP". Problem solved..... :2thumbs:

In 1986 I got $400 for a full set of 69 Camaro stainless steel wheel covers. They were used and on the car.. So for a MOPAR they should go for MUCH MORE!!! :D
lucky bastards! haha. I go look at a car today for $10k and was a total turd. $5k would have been TOO much in my opinion and the guy wasn't flexible on his $10K price. On the plus side, it was a complete car...on the minus? everything. Needs a total resto, the things that have been "fixed" have actually been screwed more...maybe 6 years ago he would have easily gotten $10k.
finds like this on here, gives me hope though, I've only been looking for the 5 past months, hell, the day of the accident, as soon as I had gotten a smart phone at the hospital, I started looking hahaha.
We're just glad you're still with us Elamars.
Yep, deals like this one aren't normal for sure.
ok guys, how does $14,900 obo sound now that it's running and driving? :2thumbs:
Is that painted? lol.
$16k painted any color you want. ;)
:scratchchin: I need to stop following this thread... 16k would do a lot to my 68 with all the parts I've already bought... Does that include delivery?
so the last guy bought it for 10k , you paid 5 k , so i think you should sell it to me for 16.00 not 16 k just pay it forward to me :icon_smile_big: :icon_smile_big: :icon_smile_big: :icon_smile_big:
Not a problem Stuart. Actually, the guy that put this on ebag paid $12k for it not running and needing wiring, carb, brakes messed with, tires, some wheel studs, ect, ect, ect......... :rotz:

Damn.......you see...... Theres still some good smoking material out there or no wait he maybe smoked the remains of the seat foam of that first gen.
thank you thank you.
now i'm curious about the car, how's that interior? anything else it's going to need down the road? do you all have a replacement for the broken part of the grille? is the price including delivery?

No grill parts. It needs the typical stuff a car would need from setting so long, belts, hoses, radiator has some bad patches that are starting to leak, go through and check the brake system. I just put a new edelbrock carb on it and new plugs but still could use new plug wires. Probably could use new shocks all the way around because when you really get on it the front end wants to lift and get a little crazy. The interior could use a dash cap, the carpet is not correct, the headliner doesn't sag but was poorly done. The seats don't have any tears or rips. Its just and older interior job. Price doesn't include delivery. Any more question or specific pics just shoot me a pm and I will get them to you.
OK now the car is for sale in the classifides....I'd say direct all questions to seller through PM's
