That's a Pete Lyons photo, so it's likely a print of it could be purchased from him. Pete shot all the major road racing events in those days.
Even more shocking than the Superbird is the TREE in the runoff area, and only the chicken wire fence between the race cars and the ones parked in the paddock. Holy cow. It was a different time.
Anything known about the pictured superbird .I came across another vintage superbird picture

Sam Posey, the SCCA / Roadracing driver who drove the Dodge Challenger in the 1970 Trans-Am series, is from the Lime Rock area and still lives there. It's his home track and Sharon, Connecticut is his home town.
Sam Posey's mother owned a limelight Superbird at one time! Supposedly, she would pick up her grandchildren (Sam's kids) from school with it. There's a cool grandma! Due to the color difference, probably not the car in the pictures above.
Sam also drove for Cotton Owens at Riverside in Jan. 1970 in the Charger 500. I guess Dodge corporate wanted a road-course ringer, rather than Buddy Baker? The deal for the Dodge Challenger in the 1970 T/A series had come through, so there was probably a tie-in there.
I met a Superbird owner a few years back at a local show he drove car from CT.
He said it was once owned by Sam Posey (saw docs he had in trunk). It was an EK2 Orange 4bbl 4spd car.
Sam Posey's mothers car is indeed orange. The current owner has been showing it at local car shows around Connecticut. WINGNUT

I stand corrected. I'd heard somebody say it was limelight, but maybe they were thinking of the T/A Challenger he raced that year.
The Poseys had family money - Sam still owns a gullwing Mercedes, among other interesting cars.
He's been disabled by Parkinson's in recent years, so he probably can't drive much nowadays.
