could there be  someone out there with a pink charger worrying about him finding its vin  and showing up a fake
looks to still have rad support ,wonder if trunk lip is there

Yea, I was confused about that too.  Seems he is just looking for the original stuff.

The guy is a friend of mine. He has good leads on the fender tag a vin plate. He's a good Charger guy trying to save a rare piece of history.

Is it rare just because it is pink? Or are there other rare options? I guess it's hard to know with no numbers.

A fender tag?...or THE fender tag for that actual car. If not the original tag (or possibly an exact replica of it) he's not saving a rare peace of history...he's cloning it.....a very different thing. With a fraction of the value at sale time depending on how honest he is.

Based on what I know of Charger-Bodie over the years and reading his post over a few times the guy is looking for THE fender tag and THE VIN plate.  He is well aware of the funny business of car repair.

To clarify . Mark has a lead from one guy who is very likely to have THE fender tag. He has a separate lead on a guy that says he had THE vin tag . May never come together , but maybe. I assure there is zero funny business involved .

101 cars painted FM3 in 1970. I heard this was the lowest percentage color chosen. 6 month availability.
Thank the lord for that. That Pepto Bismol color is terrible. I can appreciate the rarity and historical significance but Jesus, that is a hideous color for a car whether a Man or a Woman drives it.
I'm all for the guy getting the car back together, at least for the sake of saving a rare car.

I actually really like panther pink. (Or Pepto Abysmal, whichever.)

I came VERY close to changing my original FY1 70 Charger over to pink back in 02. It's a cool color.

No one's ever gonna question how secure you are in your manhood driving a hot pink car.

Not to mention, girls love it. :icon_smile_big:

Just saying, I would have no problems driving a pink Charger that women would find "cute".

Not to mention, every time you won any race, your opponent would have to admit he lost to a pink car. :icon_smile_big:

Even tho I own a red Charger, I'd drive a pink one. It's just a lighter red :icon_smile_big:. Actually I like the "oddball" colors. I've been toying with having mine changed to poly gold with black stripe. I've seen a 71 like that and think my 72 would look good too.

Hi I' am new to the site. I own this car. My plans are to try and find the original fender tag and vin. I will not have numbers made up. If I can not find original information I will revin and just document what I have. The number stamping's are all there. The car is straight and not smashed or twisted. It will need trunk pan, frame rails, rear valance, and some other minor pieces. A lot of Chargers out there need trunk pans and rear quarters. I do not know why I wanted this car I just do. Some guys just get it and some don't. As for the response of leaving that piece of shit there. Well it is people like us that build cars for you to buy and not break your nails doing repairs.

Welcome to the site, man.

Im happy to see any Charger get bought back from the dead. To see an original FM3 70 bought back is awesome.

One thing that seems unique to the mopar crowd is taking vin plates and fender tags. It doesnt seem this prevalent in any other brand of vehicle ive ever owned, just mopar guys. Ive always found that weird. And annoying. I keep my vin taped over, and the fender tag in the safe at home to annoy those guys.

Good luck with this build!

If someone was so rude to call my car a "pile of feces" the response would likely be less polite then a comment about someones nails.

As for pink.....I have seen a few A+E bodies.....don't remember anything particular wanting to shrivel up and ascend....so I guess I'd be ok.

A plus for Pink......no matter how many cars at a show or parking lot.....you will not have a problem finding it. :2thumbs:

Always good to see another one saved..... :2thumbs:

Do not apologize. There are too many keyboard critics that love to bash the efforts of others. Screw them. If a person has the drive and the passion to fix up a car with their own time and money, nobody has the right to piss on their efforts. I see cars that are great and some that I don't like. I have seen people post stuff that I thought was ugly but I'd never tell them that to their face or even online. I see it like a kid that brings home a handmade crayon drawing for his Dad. The picture is obviously not a Picasso but the Dad would be a heartless asshole to criticize it. The kid made it out of love and appreciation for his Father.
Same goes here: A man wants to share some work he did on his car or to tell about his plans for a project. The man has passion for these cars the same as we all do, yet a few dickless members have to pick it apart because they are emboldened by the anonymity of the internet.
Some of the critics would get more positive attention if they phrased their objections in a better way. The phrases that I like to see are:
Great work!
Not my way of doing it but glad you are having fun!
You have some impressive skills, good luck!
I see plenty that I do not like but I respect the  love, passion and skill it takes to get there. I've never cared for Mexican Low Rider cars but those guys spend big money on them. The craftsmanship is often unreal.Big lifted 4x4s are also not my thing but I can appreciate the engineering.

Fm3 cars always seem to be mostly a & e bodies, or maybe a satellite or coronet.
Fm3 chargers are a special breed and they hold a unique spot in mopar history- they are one of the wildest/rarest colors ever available on the final year of the most beautiful charger ever made...plus the girls like them too.
Like you said, some guys get "it" some guys don't.
No doubt this car needs to be restored.

Through pictures provided of the sequence number stamped into the trunk rail and rad support I found the full VIN and had a copy of the dealer invoice for the car which includes the major options and the name of the person the car was originally sold to. I have provided to the new owner. 383-4bbl car....factory FM3 Pink 500. 1 of 54 built.

Happy ending.

With the full vin and options sheet, MMC Detroit can reproduce a fender tag.
Can a company reproduce the dash vin plate now that the full vin is documented?

I think it would be awesome for this car to be resurrected as close to stock as possible. It is the start of a journey, good luck.  Another one saved hopefully, and a rare pink one at that!

www.datatags.com  might, again might do a VIN tag depending on the documentation available, having a title in hand is a plus...

If you do not have the original 383 numbers matching motor I do not think a period correct 440 would hurt the value any in the end

Before there are any misunderstandings...I had a digital copy. Someone else had found the invoice and sent me a scan which I provided to krops. The person with he actual paper decided to ask for money to release it. I never charge for reuniting documentation or information with the car.

You have to order them as an A body application. The stands/pedestals for the 67-76 A body cars match the 68-70 B body door.

Hahaha. It don't matter to me, but the one time my brother drove the car, he hated it. With the rear sail panels and those tiny vibrating mirrors, he hated lane changes. Or reversing under my 4 post lift......

In that case, put him in a Gen 5 or 6 Camaro and see what he thinks.

Those things are like driving a munitions bunker with such poor visibility.

It's really telling when they come with a backup camera standard.

But in his defense, driving around in a second gen is what got me in the habit of looking over my shoulders for lane changes. I never rely on the mirrors alone anymore.

A practicality sacrifice in the name of style. Worth it though.

Do a search here on the mirrors. They are NOT A Body. Drivers side adjuster cables are different lengths  A from B Body and B Body Pass. side is shaped very different from A Body. (It must be angled more to be usable.)

While I've heard this, and never really seen an pics or docs to "address" this quagmire of difference suggested by some, I'll let the FACTORY parts manuals "speak"...here's the factory pn#s and the car lines that share the parts, here you'll see that the 70 A body and 70 B body share the same racing mirror pn#s

The passenger side CHROME A/B body racing mirror is pn# 3586174 that's absent from the listing (why who knows) but the primed drivers and pass (rt. side) PN#'s are listed and are the same among the A and B body racing mirror 1970 usage

You'll see that even some of the "standard" drivers/pass A/B body mirrors are the same pn#, and shared...

I don't know what you or your post was trying to convey? other than the known fact that the A/B RACING MIRRORS are not the same shape left to right, yes this often confuses buyers thinking they don't have a matching set (which seems how your post started, until you were enlightened), or a mirror from another application, the factory purposely angled the PASSENGER RACING MIRROR for use on the A/B platforms, E bodies are like this in 1970 also regarding the RACING MIRRORS only

The part numbers are above for your inspection, if you think remote cable length is an indication, not, compare an assortment of the same mirrors, most cable lengths vary, perhaps different vendors, perhaps the operator making the mirror had to recut the lines?, human production/operator assembly tolerances change to meet unexpected situations...

Revin it ?   With or from what  ?

IMO without the original vin and fender tag its nothing special
Again IMO only

edit, I went thru entire post and see the original vin number has been determined ?

Only put the scoops on because they came with a lot of R/T parts I bought. I made a mistake and put the 69 emblems in them. They look way cooler. They come real close to the fender when you open the door. I never thought I would put on the scoops until I got a set. I thought they looked real cool. Each there own.

That's rough. Best of luck on the recovery. What kind of cancer surgery did you have? I know your pain exactly! I got t-boned in my 69 charger on Christmas Eve and the emergency room scans found bone cancer in my right arm. I had the top third of my right humerus replaced with a cadaver bone and had a complete shoulder reconstruction in January....and I'm only 36 years old. Ive been in therapy 3 days a week for 3.5 months now and i still can't lift my arm out to my side or up in front of me. It makes it very difficult to get anything done. Hang in there!

I was right. Could be worse. I had thyroid cancer. Normal takes 2 hours for surgery. Mine was 9 hours. The doctor said if I would have waited a couple more years he said he wouldn't have been able to do anything. What really sucks is that I was loosing my voice 10 years earlier. The doctor was a dick. Said my whole problem is that I was a smoker and drink soda. When he put the scope through my nose he rammed it in there. My wife was with and could not believe it. So last January our insurance switched went to new care giver guy found it during a yearly physical. I would say 3 weeks after I had surgery. Then the largest radiation pill then 35 beam radiation treatments.

Everyone thinks just because they have the title of a DOCTOR they know everything. KNOW IT ALLS. Absolutely not the case. drinking Soda was the cause of loosing your voice or thyroid, what a crock of bull. I drink SODA every single day and have not had any issues, blood work and regular checkups are beyond perfect. What gets me is DRs making these ridiculous claims yet there are pubmed and studies done out there that actually a lot of the time, prove the DR wrong. All it takes is a little googling to find the studies and reading and wolah.

Good to hear you found a better carer though, they are far and few between it seems.

If the one doctor would have not been such a dick and looked farther it would have been easier. At least someone got it taken care of before it was to late.
I made it to a full member now. Awesome

For the last 10 years I've been very skeptical of general practitioners and family doctors. There is simply too much for them to know. I do lots of research on my own issues, I feed them the info, and then I push for further action. If I have surgery, I research to find who is the best. I had a knee surgery 18 years ago and the knee was never right after that. I injured the same knee 15 years later so I asked a physical therapist who the best two knee surgeons were in the area. When my insurance tried to send me back to the original guy who did my surgery, I politely demanded that I get one of the two knee surgeons that the physical therapist suggested. I got the good surgeon and my knee is now the best it's been in 18 years. You have to be your own advocate or you won't get taken care of.
