Post by: jww426 on November 23, 2017, 03:45:41 PM
Hello all.
What is the value hit for a 1968 RT with only a date correct replacement engine?
thanks!

Is it the car you mentioned in this thread (http://www.dodgecharger.com/forum/index.php/topic,130757.0.html)?

Yes.
Hard to say on what percentage.....depends a lot on the condition and options etc.

:iagree:

Was it an OE-type (correct/NOS parts, primered floor pans, overspray & runs in the orange peel paint, ect.) restoration aiming at the upper end of the market, or a YearOne & shiny paint resto?  There's a market for both - but one is more heavily impacted by the lack of a numbers-matching engine/drivetrain.

I'm guessing the car is also missing its broadcast sheet?

No broadcast sheet. No history papers.
But its a high end, factory-correct everything car.
Vin says real RT 440, auto.
Concours paint.
The block is date code correct with a "C" on the front pad for 1967.
Car was built in Nov. '67.

thanks!!

Without a J-code VIN, "factory-correct" doesn't apply and has marginal bearing on the value apart from the separate value of the engine itself (and that is still a function of whether the mill has original parts/components).  The "C" on the front ID pad is for the 1967 model year, produced from 8/66 through 7/67.

It might be a great car, but its value isn't tied to the car's heritage nearly as much.  In the eyes of the market for pricing purposes, it's a HemiCharger clone.

Its a 440 RT, not a semi clone.
Ive been told condition is just as important when value is concerned.
thanks

So it does, or does not, have a hemi engine in it now?
