JUNE 7-12, 2010: Branson, MO, Winged Warriors/NBOA & DSAC National Meet with Stuart Sutton and Larry Roper as hosts. Our headquarters hotel is the Ramada Branson, 1700 W Hwy 76, next door to '57 Heaven. The Ramada surrounds their own large parking lot where our cars will be on display and offers wireless internet, a work-out facility, a fantastic hot buffet breakfast. The room rate is $54 per night and we will have 50 rooms blocked. For reservations call (417) 334-1000 and tell them you're with the Winged Warriors block. Some activities that are being planned are: Dolly Parton's Dixie Stampede, , a trip to Ozark to eat at Lambert's Restaurant (home of the throwed rolls), there are lots of shows to see on your own, and we'll have a drive-in movie screen on site. Early arrivals may want to spend a day at Silver Dollar City. More info to come.
Pictured is the Ramada inn's Area 57 where we will base camp our show and events out of . Suggestions and your help are always welcome .
If anyone has any suggestions for group events or shows, just let one of us know. One idea...They have an excellent show on the Branson Belle. We might plan a boat ride one day for early arrivers. Trust me when I say that you can bring the whole family, stay a week and not run out of anything to do. The shows are reasonably priced and obviously the hotels are inexpenisve as well. I've been taking my family to Branson for the Super Summer Cruise for years and we always look forward to it.

Stuart,
With Rita now knowing some of the bunch, and her wanting to make the Branson run a few years back, it looks like I've been volunterred to be there, and I HOLD YOU RESPOSIBLE. :icon_smile_big: Been looking over the Branson sites, I saw the Branson Bell, Rita likes to boat ride wherever we go, so that would be good. I also saw an excursion train, (Branson Scenic Railway), and a Historic Homestead tour. Also saw a Branson Auto Museum, (different from 57 Heaven?). You planning to set-up events starting Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday? (Need to figure out when to get there). I will bring a spare fuel pump pushrod. See you then.
Afterthought, you're seen my trailer, is there a decent spot to put it at the Ramada?
Barry
IF YOU'RE UNDER CONTROL, YOU AIN'T GOING FAST ENOUGH."
yes plenty of trailer parking
Monday is a free day for most to go to silver dollar city or what ever you want to do.. We will scheduled a few events every day and free time every day also for people to do shows or what ever. You dont have to do our schedules stuff . Its just stuff we thought you all would like . 57 heaven museum is closing and being autioned off this month . :eek2: So i'm already having to reschedule stuff . So i'm sure we will be going to that new car museum you saw on line .
There is so much to do and not enought time to do it all. Sue has a connection to get 1/2 price ticket to most all the show and activities .
A couple regular stops for my family in Branson -- besides a few already listed -- are the Shepherd of the Hills dinner & show and the Titanic attraction. We'll usually hit maybe one or two (at the most) of the "regular" shows around town, but my kids are much more interested in playing all the different Putt-Putt courses than anything else.

plenty of go-cart tracks and arcades for my kids too.
Looks like fun !!!!
If it wasn't when my kid is still in school we might have come down for that one. looks like a lot of potential for fun, and as long as their are wing cars to stare at I'm always up for it.

sorry we are all out of school in may here , That was the only week in june that area 57 had open. Yoiu dont wanna be in branson in july . :yesnod: :yesnod:
Most people don't want to be in Phoenix in May, June, July, August, or September. :flame:
Those wooden, multi level go-cart tracks are fast and furious. We rode the one on the west end of town last year, the Lumberjack, I think and it was totally insane. I've seen about half of the shows in town and haven't seen one yet that I didn't enjoy. The Pressley's were great.
The parkiing lot at the Branson Belle is huge. Plenty of parking for those big old wingcars. I'll look into a package deal.
In July and August the streets are more often referred to as parking lots. People are courteous and will let you in, but of course you then come to a complete stop. ;D
sound like lots of fun but thats the week of the power tour and its going right thru the midwest this year the last few times ive went mostly chevys and fords id like to see a huge pack of mopars rolling down the highway like the old days of the mopar nats. just a thought
I was sick when I realized that the show was the same week as the Power Tour. I had planned to do the Power Tour for the first time in 2010. The wing show is much more important though and for me...much closer to home.
I don't expect the Power Tour to affect the show attendance.
these are sue's recommendations
Some of the recommended shows to see in branson : tony rio ( famous Elvis impersonator) , The haygoods ( six brothers and one sister musical act) Legends in cocert ( Marilyn Monroe , Shania Twain , The blues brothers , Elvis, ect). Baldknobbers (country singing , dancing , comedy ), Presley's country jubilee , The duttons Six ( six brothers who do amazing harmonizing with no instruments) , Rankin Brothers (variety of music very well done. Acrobats of china ( highly recommended-an unbelievable show !) Shoji Tabuchi ( amazing fiddler- even if you dont see his show you have to go in and check out the theater and his bath rooms are fabulous!)
You can learn more about the shows and attractions by visiting : www.explorebranson.com. There are links to most of the theaters and performer's websites with schedules showing ticket prices , times and dates of each show . The 2010 schedules wont's be availble untill after christmas/ New years holiday in branson, so be sure and check back in january for dates and times of any shows your interested in.
If you wait until you arrive in branson to purchase your show tickets , there is a generic looking building at the intersection of highways 65 & 76 where most of you will drive in on . It has half-price tickets for most of the shows. There is no sales pitch , no timeshare tour , no catch what so ever at these prices , and then you can purchase the other ticket elsewhere at various places around town .
There are alot of attractions in the aera to see: The titanic exhibit , Hollywood wax museum, stone Hill winery ,Butterfly Palace , Toy Museum , Dinosaur Museum and haunted House , Ripley's Believe It or Not. There are also numerous places you can play mini golf , go cart racing ,ride the ducks , fly from the 100 tower or take a heliocopter ride over branson. There are numerous specialty stores, shopping and outlet malls , and alot of restaurants and ice cream joints around the branson area. You can also take a leisurely ride on the branson Belle Showboat or the tourist train or see a movie at the IMAX threatre. The attractions are endless in branson , so plan to make it your family vacation and come enjoy everything with your mopar famliy too.
We also have a large group of members attend the MOPARS in the park in farmington mn. Its on the predeeding weekend of the branson meet . The group plans to leave farmington Sunday mid-afternoon and stay overnight in Des moines Iowa . Monday morning they will take off early and drive together to branson.
So if you were worried about missing the power tour , We can have our own winged power tour from Minnesota to missouri . :icon_smile_big: :icon_smile_big: :icon_smile_big: :icon_smile_big:
I plan to be there
I plan to have your car ready for you to be there. ;D

This will be a combined clubs event , Winged Warriors will host it this year with DSAC hosting next year . The clubs will then alterate who host and sets up the Nation Meet event every other year . This will save us Money trying to make both events and Hopefully get bigger turn out of members and cars .
Very special thanks to Doug Shellinger , Chuck Porter , Mike Borkowski , Wayne Perkins , and Sue George for arranging for us to have combined Club Meets .
I called the ramada today and ground floor rooms are filling up , they have just three single King bed only rooms left on the ground floor . So call asap if you need a ground floor room .
I am making reservations for the 10th and 11th, be there the 10-12th.
Just made my reservations and the only ground floor available is a handicapped room. So I am on the second floor, I guess they don't count mental handicaps :nana:) He said if something opened up on the ground floor he would change me.
We made our hotel reservations last Thursday. Try and make your reservations direct with the hotel staff. The first time we called at night, they transferred us to the 800 reservation line. They didn't know anything about a block or a special rate. When we called back, we told them not to transfer us, and we got in just fine.

(417) 334-1000 Eli is my new hotel contact person , He is also now running Area 57 the show ,drive inn movie area .
This is going to be one of those shows where you won't be sitting around in a lawn chair all of the time. We have quite a few activities planned for the week and of course there are all of the other shows, exhibits and malls that Branson has to offer. Trust me when I say that you won't be disappointed with Branson. We attend the big cruise there every August with many of our family members and friends. Everyone looks forward to going back to Branson every year.
The local Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep dealership is interested in hosting a noon time car show on Friday the 11th. I'll let everyone know more as time goes on. The dealership is only a few miles from the hotel. That will give us plenty of time to get back before the Friday evening events at the hotel.
We've booked several seats on the Branson Belle Showboat for Thursday at 4:00. The cost is $54.81 per adult and that includes a great meal and a show on the boat while cruising around the lake. The cost for children is around $28.00. The parking lot is very big and we won't have any problems with parking space. The early evening show will get us back to the hotel before dark.
If you're interested in the showboat cruise, drop me a line and I'll add you to the list. hotrodcuda98@hotmail.com
Stuart and I will be adding more updates on activities as time allows. We'll put together a complete list of the activities and make them available as soon as everything is in place. Hope to see you there.
eli called today and said 35 of the 50 rooms are reserved so i had him set 10 more rooms aside for us .
I booked mine a couple weeks ago and got 2ND floor as well...I'm in for Fri. and Sat. nights. :2thumbs: I will try to be there for the noon car show...looking forward to this and meeting some of the people who have helped me out.
Stuart

Stuart,
I checked my schedule and I'm committed to vacationing with the in-laws so I'll be missing Branson and the Keokuk (sp?) events :rotz:

we will miss you scott but look forwards to seeing you in st louie
So far we have 18 seats reserved for the Branson Belle cruise on Thursday. If there's anyone that plans to go and has not contacted me yet, please do so. I want to make sure that everyone will have a seat. I think everyone will enjoy the cruise. I plan to have someone stay with the cars while we're on the cruise although I really don't think it would be necessary. Might give some people piece of mind so that they can enjoy the cruise a little more.
The paved lot there at the dock area is very large and there will be plenty of parking. Shouldn't be a problem grouping the cars together.
E-mail me (Larry Roper) at hotrodcuda98@hotmail.com
So far we have 25 seats reserved on the Branson Belle. If you haven't reserved a seat yet, e-mail me at hotrodcuda98@hotmail.com to get your name on the list. You don't want to miss this cruise. The lake is beautiful, the food is great and the show is very entertaining.
We may have a few local mopar people show up on Thursday to join us on the cruise.

do you have a local mopar connection larry ? I would love to get more cars out for the show at the dealership friday .
Not right there in Branson, but there are a couple of D.C. members that live in that area. You might start a thread in the Charger section inviting anyone in the area to attend. Maybe they can get off from work on Friday to come out. Might not be a bad idea to post an invite on Moparts as well. If you want me to do it just let me know.
The people that I know are in N.W. Arkansas and western Arkansas.

Great if you could post that info that would be awesome thanks .
Will do.
I talked to the people at the hotel and we have more than 50 of the rooms reserved. She couldn't give me an exact number but said that the original block of 50 rooms were reserved and that they had reserved several more just recently.
We have approximately 32 seats reserved for the Branson Belle cruise on Thursday.
The Dodge dealership show is definitely a go for Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.. They're going to have an area set up for us and will provide refreshments. They may have a live remote with one of the local radio stations so we may ask for volunteers to speak for the group. Hopefully someone much more knowledgeable about wingcars than I. ;D
We should have a few members of the Route 66 Mopar club there as well. They're a great bunch and are very active with shows, etc. throughout the year.
Still taking reservations for the Branson Belle cruise. hotrodcuda98@hotmail.com
Larry
awesome it's getting really close .
If there's anyone that reserved seats on the Branson Belle that may not be able to make it, please contact me as soon as possible. We're trying to nail down the exact number of seats. They called and said that the boat is completely booked for that day and need to know if there are any seats that we didn't need. Once we reserve them, we're committed. Well, at least I'm committed. ;D
OK, there is committed and there is involved. The hen was involved in the ham and eggs you had for breakfast, the pig was committed. :icon_smile_big:
We'll be there for the boat ride.
"IF YOU'RE UNDER CONTROL, YOU AIN'T GOING FAST ENOUGH."
Can you believe its been a year barry ? Wow cant wait to see you and rita again drive safely .
They're now asking me to guarantee all of the seats with my credit card. I think that means that I'm committed in this case. :icon_smile_big:
There's committed, and there's certifiable. :icon_smile_big:
"IF YOU'RE UNDER CONTROL, YOU AIN'T GOING FAST ENOUGH."
Maybe with both clubs joining up on the meets, we could wrk out some type of rotation around the coutry for meets, maybe east coast/midwest/west coast, or north east, southeast, midwest, northwest, southwest. Just a thought, and I must remember what that thinking stuff does for me.
It would be great to create a rotation around the country so that everyone ends up with an event within a reasonable driving distance.
Stuart,
I'm loading up for the trip. I have some "leftovers" from last year, (plastic bags for goodies, fans, "Do not touch" etc). Do you need any? Also have a few small things for the raffle. We should see you Monday afternoon.
Barry
"IF YOU'RE UNDER CONTROL, YOU AIN'T GOING FAST ENOUGH."

Looks like a great time Stuart! Other than the rain and trouble with birdible. Sorry to hear about that.
Stuart I have been following the thread and was just about to post a comment yesterday about how you hadn't had any problems out of your car yet. What happened to it this time?
We made it home from Branson today around 12:30. Didn't have any problems. We trailered the Black Ice Bird up for several reasons. The main reason is because I felt that I owed it to my wife to provide a/c for the trip up and back. I appreciate her going with me to keep me company and to keep me out of trouble. We drove the black bird around Branson in hot conditions and heavy traffic and had no overheating issues which is a miracle. Sandra was loving every minute of the trips around town in the bird and was really enjoying all of the attention that we got everywhere we went. We must have told the story about SuperbirdTom and his history with the Black Ice band and Superbird about a hundred times. Everyone seemed to enjoy the background story.
Sandra and I met a lot of very nice people and had a blast. We'll try to make the trip to Cleveland for next year's show if at all possible. Stuart, along with his sons did a great job of keep everything organized. It was great finally getting to meet Sue and Ed.
I could write three long pages about the meet but I won't.
glad to here you made it home. Sorry to here about the bird Stuart. I hope I can make it to the next event. I have joined the DASC but would like to join the winged warriors as well. What do I need to do?

not sure the bottom end on this current motor should be rock solid ? so i'm really hoping its something simple like a fuel pump / pump rod or torq converter bolt loose , or even a cam .
I just dont wanna have to put another motor in this thing :brickwall: :brickwall: :brickwall: :brickwall: :brickwall:

We're home too, despite Dollar rent-a-car's best efforts to make us miss our flight.
Mom and I were really happy to see everyone, and I still feel bad about leaving the car at home. Thanks to Stu and Larry from us, too!

glad you had a safe flight , CLEVELAND ROCKS :2thumbs: :2thumbs:
I really enjoyed talking to all of the members from around the U.S.. I tend to ask a lot of questions about the areas that people live in. I've never traveled north or northeast much so I'm always curious about what it's like in those parts of the country. Maybe next year I'll find out what it's like up in northern Ohio. Probably cooler temps than Branson...and maybe less traffic.
Strangely, I felt like I had met most of the members before.

you know the cars are great , but it really is the amazing people you get to meet at these events that make it worth coming to. :yesnod: :yesnod: :yesnod:
I make fun of rick and all his stories but he has been to all these events and bought his car new . The stories are really priceless . :D :nana:
He makes fun of me right back for all my picture taking
Thanks to Stuart and Larry for a job well done. They put a lot of effort into the meet, and it was very well organized.
The problem we had with meeting in Branson was the parking issue. There were several shows and restaurants that would have been great to have scheduled in, but their parking lots were either very small or on steep inclines. I was worried about going down to Branson Landing, but by going early we were able to find some nice spots to park in. I really wanted to take everyone to McFarlands for lunch or dinner but we have a tough time finding spots to park there. Especially with those long pointy noses. If you guys ever visit Branson, be sure and eat at McFarlands at least once. They have the best country food you'll ever find.
I think everyone got a kick out of eating at Lambert's. You don't see people throwing rolls to you very often. If anyone left there hungry, I would be shocked.
I talked a few into going to the Outback. The Outback is a seafood place primarily and they pre-date the Outback Steakhouses by quite a few years. The Aussie food was great.
Unfortunately, I missed getting to go to the Bass Pro Shop and the zoo. I had to finalize the arrangements for the Branson Belle Showboat. I've been the BPS many times before but still would have liked to have gone with the group. Part of being a host I guess.
I was glad that my wife, Sandra was able to enjoy the trip. As her Alzheimer's progresses, she has more and more difficulty with traveling. I'm hopeful that the new meds that are being tested will be available soon so that she can improve to the point that we would be able to attend next years event in Cleveland. Time will tell.
I truly appreciate everyone that helped her during the week. It didn't go unnoticed.
I hope to see some of you in St. Louis in September.
Congrats to all the participants. It looks like you are the winers here. Great cars, great people= a great event

It would have been cool to have had all of the birds lined up neatly with those signs on the windshields. It was pouring down rain when I got there and due to poor visibility I didn't get parked all of the way up to the edge of the parking lot. I'm surprised at how quickly the weather cleared up and how quickly the parking lot drained. That week went by way too fast.

Please tell me more! My wife's High School 'major year' reunion is next summer in Cleveland. It would be nice if I had something to do if we go. I promise to bring the 30+ year old photo albums.
I'm going to let the glow of this meet wear off a little before stickying the next, but it'll be 52 weeks from now, starting tomorrow. we're planning a trip to the rock n' roll hall of fame, various museums, tours and more. meet will run from tuesday thru saturday. definitely more to come!

As you and Stuart have now joined me as an alumnus of the Winged Warriors meet planning school of hard knocks, I would like to thank you both for a job well done. While you mention not being able to do some things, I know that when you start running the timing, you have to prioritize, and you did well. Thanks to you both.
One of these days, "Team red" will get enough cars to show to challenge "Team green." :icon_smile_big:
Thanks,
Barry
We couldn't get enough of Area 57 so Sandra and I are going back up in a couple of weeks for the Route 66 Car show. Several of the Route 66 members have asked us to attend.
It won't be the same without all of you guys though. :'(

Marty was originally an R4 car, but I think it belongs with Larry and Milt in the "other" category
