Title: charger symmetry
Post by: jobbless on July 23, 2010, 09:41:41 PM
i was reading about the passenger side mirrors and it got me thinking about the gas filler. weird huh? has anyone ever put one on the passenger side also?  and is there anything else that you can think of that would not be symmetrical? (with the exception of the emblems)

I think that the single gas filler is one of the coolest features on the second gens. I think two would just be out of place.

Saw a 2nd gen with two gas caps at a show in Nauvoo, IL last year. Didn't look to bad, but not my thing.

This car has dual functional gas caps, decide for yourself.

I believe the original design called for two but it was shot down due to cost and trunk space issues.

Bull's right again.  It's for the best anyway-two would've been too much...

I was going to re plumb the filler pipe so it doesn't waste so much space. I may do the dual filler option too (may even be able to fit 4 bodies in the trunk too  )

Our Aussie E49 big tank Charger came with factory dual fillers.

I added a pass side filler neck to my charger, and think it really helps with symmetry - plus it doesn't matter which side of the pump I pull up to - I can fill either way.

That's the one thing I miss out on owning a first gen, I always liked the look to the gas cap on the rear quarter.
Cheers Don

has anyone ever shaved the flip top fuel cap and  put the gas filler behind the license plate on a 68-70? not that i want to change my car. just want to see other cars done other ways. there aren't too many cars i like completely stock. the 68 charger is one.
