Title: Kill switch Relay question
Post by: misty440 on August 17, 2022, 12:32:44 PM
When adding a kill switch to cut off the ignition coil is it necessary to use a Bosch style relay? I purchased a Normally closed Reed Switch and planned to wire it into the negative side of the coil. A coworker who is a electrical engineer told me that I should wire my reed switch into a relay. Can someone please explain this thought process? Is it incorrect to wire the reed switch directly into the coil wire?
Thanks
Chris

What is the intent? How would you trigger a reed switch?  :scratchchin:

I placed a magnet inside of the cigarette lighter, when installed it opens the NC reed switch which will open the circuit to the ignition coil
thanks
