Hi AeroFolks,
My computer went haywire and I lost all my files/contacts for my C500 build.
Still looking for a trunk lid under-cap for the cut-down lid.
Any leads greatly appreciated.
Best wishes from 500Jon
Gene Gregory has the close out panel for the trunk lid in steel. Very nice piece.
I think Gene is no longer makeing parts. :shruggy: (Wingman)
what about Rick Fairless makes metal daytona parts
had this site saved , ! anyone used this guy ?
http://www.wingcarfab.com/daytona_parts.html
I believe its Jack M who had passed away a while back
When I bought my Gene Gregory trunk closeout I had a hard time getting a hold of him (finally did) and that was 2 years ago
Thanx AeroFolks,
Anyone got a contact number or address for Gene Gregory?
Got it thanx 5J

Gene Gregory id have to look around but I have his email and phone number somewhere.
Opening my Rolex... ;)
Spoke with him last Saturday, he had the close out panels as of then...... His number is 618-488-7941. Don't even try to google for internet contact info. He told me he doesn't do business via email or anything... He's even older-school than I.....
:2thumbs:
Many thanx Troy!
You must have read my mind...
I was always thinking of getting a steel close out panel.
I have a f/glass one at present and have found a nice lid to cut down.
Many thanx from the UK.

I need a favour please.
Can someone in DC.land buy a trunk filler cap for me and send it to me in the UK.
I understand that Gene Gregory makes them but cannot ship overseas.
If you are in the process of ordering one from Gene, then please order TWO!
(The length of the cap is too long for normal shipping outside of the US.)
So what needs to happen is this...
Purchase the end cap from Gene (one for you, one for me), then carefully cut/fold (the extra one) into two HALF length pieces, hopefully still joined.
Then stick it in the post as a gift to a poor limey, which is me!
When it gets here I can carefully unfold the trunk-cap and fit it to my trunk-lid.
I was hoping to see Gene in person at Dega either last year or this year, but that didn't happen.
Sometimes things outside of your control, conspire against you...
I am keeping my fingers crossed that someone on this board will help me out. PLEASE!!!
Many thanx in advance 500Jon
Jon,
have you found someone to help out yet? I can order for you ( I'm sure you can get the money to me one way or another ) and then I can ship it to you...... Let me know..
Send me a private message..
Troy

I bought a plastic trunk-cap from Mike Goyette, the shipping logistics was a nightmare for him.
So after two failed attempts at receiving a usable part I will now go steel, (should have done that first time).
The next issue is finding Gene, buying a trunk-cap and then getting it to England (via a fellow member).
Herein lies the problem...
Gene has been getting alot of internet Flak for failed orders, lack of response to emails, even MAIL-FRAUD!!!
I'm hoping that all those 'internet stories' are just upset customers trying to badger him up?
I believe his CAPS are a true work of art and second to none!!!
So if anyone can contact him via the DC site(on my behalf) and ask if he has a cap for sale then that would be WONDERFUL!!! :2thumbs:
I want to be able to praise him and his CAP and more important, be able to finish my C500...

My conversations with Gene have always been ok... We can go offline here. I have helped a good friend of mine who's Dutch in shipping parts to him. I can't imagine it could be too overly complicated........ Send me a message and I'll shoot you my phone number and we can go from there ( granted, we have a huge time difference ).
Cheers,
Troy
I spoke to him last week...he has the trunk caps...but I can't afford his price plus shipping right now...I'n trying other avenues now

$250 + shipping to me.....total would be around $325-ish
WoW 383Wingman,
That's great news about Gene having the filler caps in stock!
I thought I was on a tight budget, but $250 sounds a good deal for such a hard part to make?
Hope you fall on better times fella.
If you want a plastic one made by Mike Goyette I may be able to help you out.

I would be open to a 'glass one....it's not a structural part that sees a lot of load anyway.....

What's an original lid worth with a rusty lip? Needs to have the cap pulled off and put on a good lid...
Any idea?
Hi Greg,
Original gotta be worth more than a repop, but I heard Gene's were so good that they can't be told apart!
So with that in mind maybe only slightly more?
Probably not double at $500 more in the $400 range??? :scratchchin:

Close to my guesstimate! I'll be needing another one for the Bettenhausen Daytona.
Not a pressing need, but eyes open. You know me... No repro parts... :Twocents:
Thanks John.
