Wait 10 years and you can probably get it for half that price. As my generation dies off there going to be more cars than people who want them or there is going to be a lot of well stocked museums  springing up. :popcrn:

Hi Rob dirt,

Always liked the Joe Dirt car and the Film too!
My good friend in Californication helped built the Dirt car.
He said it was at the Fling a few times before it was snapped up.
Like all these wonderful cars, you just gotta have the money on the DAY!!! :2thumbs:

I really don't think prices will come down after current long time owners start selling, to many ways to sell cars via internet and many more people outside the U.S. are seeing these cars for the first time and learning about there history and buying them then paying import duties.  I think prices will be stable if not climb in the next 5 years. Remember they did not make many of these cars and the population of the world keeps growing. Just my thoughts

If the car in the top righthand advertisement was originally a 1969 J-code Charger (R/T or C500) Special Edition, that would make it the only one in captivity AFAIK.

yeah, i know i'm in the minority, but the 500 front end is soooooooooo much better looking than the regular version. not to mention how the flush rear glass makes those goofy sail panels look like unfinished business.

if not for the aero versions, i'd be living on coronet.com as we speak...

I was under the impression it was not possible to get a RT/SE Hemi charger in 69. At least my paper works says it was not an option.

Yep, that's exactly my point.  I still don't know why Chrysler didn't allow that combination in '69.

On this same question--I have never heard of a C500 with RT badging.  The car in the add is advertised as that and most likely was just a misstatement in the add. :shruggy:   Just a bit further on this---If an RT version were available, would the grill 500 badge be displaced by an RT badge?  And how would the tail stripe work with this question?

You are correct about the limited supply of these cars and the population growing. Keep in mind it's emotion and what people grew up with that attracts them to this era of cars. The increased value is due to the fact that these very people want to relive their youth and they do have the disposable income to fulfill their dreams.

Subsequent generations will gravitate to the cars they grew up with. The trend is that younger generations are not saving like their parents did and they won't have the disposable income for $100,000 garage art.

Look at the recent upswing in prices for late '70's and early ''80's Trans Ams and Z/28's as an example. Fox body Mustangs are also on the rise.

Does this mean Daytonas, 500's and Superbirds will be $10,000 again? No. Will they remain 6 figure cars? I'll say No to that also.

We'll see.

I was wondering about the R/T option for a 500. Looking at the adds they have the same phone numbers and looks like the same car.
One add says R/T SE A/T with 18k miles. The other add has R/T 4spd dana with 39k miles. Maybe the guy had two of them or was just adding options that would attract more people to his adds ?

I think both pix are of the same 500.  They both have the same wheels, lighting conditions, and the backgrounds are exactly the same in relation to each other.  A misprint by the editor.  I'd favor the bottom ad as the most likely description of the car.

Hemi Cars for $10,000!!!
Where's my time machine gone?

If I had a time machine, $10k, and had to bring back a car I'd be rolling around in a Ferrari 250GTO.  Screw this low rent stuff.

ERR yes and no PettyBird!

You may be missing the point here?
Ferrari's are for Hairdressers and pimps.

Real men drive a HEMI-CAR!!!

Its a bit like Beetles and Porsches, designed by the same Guy, BUT HEY... which one in COOLIO??? :smilielol:

I missed no point.  You're pining for a car that costs 10 grand and is now worth like $175k.  I'd bring back a car that sold for as low as $6500 that is now worth north of $45 million.

I've also had the opportunity to drive a couple vintage (read: classic V12) Ferraris and amazingly I didn't come across another with a hairdresser in it...
