Title: Now the C500 list is almost done?
Post by: 500Jon on February 27, 2016, 06:08:51 AM
Hi Aero's,

Thanks to Homerr and many other truly marvellous Mopar Folks the C500-LIST is getting DONE!

So Wingcar Guys, its time you started a Daytona LIST!!!
NOW before its TOO LATE!!!
If that is, OR was, in any way successful then a Birdy list could be started.

We are coming up to 50 years of wings and FLUSH-BACK windows, and most of US, have less time left to US, than we have already USED UP!!! :pity:
Before its TOO LATE, make a start, procrastination is a CRIME in my book, one I am truly guilty of... :slap:

If it doesn't PAN-OUT, so what, the 'IT'-AGE has made it possible to create a definitive LIST.

There will always be AYE's and NAY sayers, BUT the time is now before we is all to OLD to remember what we had for breakfast, let alone 50 FLIPPING years ago... :popcrn:

Thats a NO then?

No, whats the point?
No, I'm keeping mine secret?
No, its snowing?
No, the Feds will want some back-TAX?
No, the crooks will steal it...
No, I ain't paid Uncle Fester for it yet and he will want it back?

Just keep it simples.

HOW MANY are accounted for? :popcrn:
There a definitive list somewhere and I'm just a KNOW nothing???

Yep thats what it is, it already exists, but its PRIVATE! :2thumbs:

Thanx Homerr for the reply!

Was thinking I was all alone here in C500 Limey-land with no one reading my stupid request?
I don't need a list, I thought that the Nose-cone guys might want one too, like us sensible C500-Folks?
Its interesting and informative, where these wonderful Nascars went and have ended up, in our Electric/Robot car WORLD.

Driver-less cars is the way forward, that will include Nascar, Formula One and Electric F1.
As a kid I played a futuristic game called SCALEXTRIC, that was driverless TOO!!! :nana:
Little did we know that it would soon be reality, REAL-TIME, FULL-SIZE, Nascar and Drag-racing from my living room...

Sorry off track there for a moment, patience is a VIRTUE, which I am quite good at, working out how long I have left on this MORTAL COIL, no idea!!!

Hey Jon,

I've had the rough outline of a Daytona list since I ran across the posts by nascarxx29, which he generously posted for the community, while I was working on the C500 list.  It's really just that list plugged in to the C500 spreadsheet.  At this point I haven't really had anything to add to it so I haven't gone forward with anything.

Still convinced its the Garlits Crower car from back in the day!
Or someone in Florida copied it? :scratchchin: :scratchchin: :scratchchin:

Nice one Guys and Gals.

Some feedback on the Daytona's.
I know I will never get one now, but I'm still in awe of their SUPERBNESS!
Even if I won the Lotto, I think I'm past it now (60 and OLD)?

Wingcars are true USA Heritage vehicles and are well outta place anywhere else on the Planet! :2thumbs:
To buy one a bring it to limey-land would be a Fools errand in my book...

You Wingers are sure lucky Guys and Gals indeed!!! :drool5: :drool5: :drool5:

Just to clarify -

The date at the end... is this the ship date to dealers?  Shipped from Creative?  From Dodge?

The second column of up to 3 digits... is this an official number that they shipped from Creative Ind. or Dodge?  Or just something someone added after the fact?

Are there any 2 tag Daytonas?  If so, any idea how many lines are filled? 2? 3?  I'm improving the formatting a bit.

My plan is to outlive Folks I don't like, (especially the ones who didn't sell me a WINGCAR) then it will feel like a VICTORY! :popcrn: :popcrn: :popcrn:

Jon, what is "limey-land" ?

Its a little place near Europe called England!
Once a World power now a dumping ground for economic migrants!

Back in the day we used to eat Limes to ward off scurvy, especially sailors.
After the Independance of America, Australia etc, from the Old Country, we were called Limey's as a affectionate farewell gesture :slap: :slap: :slap:

This page contains all of the NASCAR list Superbirds and the few I have run across that don't fall on the list.  A Superbird list of currently existing cars presents a bit more challenge due the the quantity - (potentially) roughly 2000 cars if you want to also note the non-production car based race cars.  The thought of constructing a data base is a bit overwhelming although it would be VERY interesting.  I think some new patterns would emerge.  At this point I just don't know if I am up to the task.  If I am correct, the C500 list is an open Google drive document - how well has this worked?  Are you satisfied with the responses and have you had difficulty keeping erroneous information out of the list?

Thanks,
Brennan

Nice one ARNIE!!!
I will spend many an hour reading the Superbird list, many thanx.

Great Wingcar in an even greater picture with the 'close encounters' blob in the background.(I think)

Arnie was a hero of mine and many others here in the UK!
Fantastically made film with a great car too.
58 Fury, the best film car ever!!! :2thumbs: :2thumbs: :2thumbs:

Questionable input (with good intent) quickly became an issue. The information in the document is open to view, copy, etc., but Homerr is the owner, sole editor, and general Grand Pooh-Bah of the Google Charger 500 list. He deserves all the credit for it's being!

Initially the C500 sheet was an open doc editable by anyone.  After a time it was changed to moderated as the other 4 mods came on board.  I'm also a moderator, but there is a separate Google account that is the owner (yes, I control this for now).  This is so that it can be passed on eventually to another caretaker and I don't 'own' it, though this is more of a google admin rights sort of thing.  But it's all there in the open, anyone can download the sheet and make their own version if they want.

I'm not the only Pooh-Bah, you other 4 mods can edit.   :nana:

You four, and others here, are the C500 experts.  I'm providing some tech support and data entry.

Just looking at another thread here, this is why I do this.  Frustration over fiefdoms like GG.

just ask GG.
he is supposed to have the shipping list for all 500s so he knows who the selling dealer was back in the day

Carsten

you have to pay him for the info, even then he may not give it to you

a few years ago i started a daytona list, and input was like asking for first born children. very few offered to fill in gaps, so the project stalled out. it's a genuine shame that enthusiasts like dave are so few. dave told me back then, we are all getting up in the years and the knowledge is worthless if it passes away with us. dave's knowledge includes owners past and present, but my list focuses solely on the cars as they were built decades ago. ownership info is nowhere to be found in the data i intend to eventually post, as the owner of the cars at the time was chrysler.

i still have the file but haven't had time to work on it much over the last year or two. this post is motivation to change that. the g/f's son-in-law is a computer coder. i will see if he can whip up a format that i can then post the information in to. once i get to that point, i will once again ask for help in filling the gaps so that the information is out there for all to see.
