Found this interesting picture .Of a charger which no longer exists
Are you absolutely sure it doesn't exist Dave? :icon_smile_wink:
Lets say the 1 the factory made one pictured is no longer with us.Perhaps a replica will surface someday
Kinda looks like the kid of an 80s Vette and the 99 Charger concept.....
That car was just a mock up no real functional versions were ever built.I heard the mock up was destroyed, after years of being stored in a warehouse. It was held together with wood, and screws! I built a model of that car when I was a kid!
GM built a model of it too. They call it a Corvette........ :puke:
There was even a back in charger toy that was exact as this charger III car .It was called the amazeomatic by hasbo .And there was a kenner lightbeam 69 charger that moved when you shined a flashlight on it
I thought that car had ended up in somebodys collection :rotz:
I heard something about it falling apart too. There were fiberglass bodies of it for kit car use. I have a pic somewhere of Mr. Norms shop with one of the bodies swinging from the rafters. He was asked about it once and he didn't know what had happened to it. He did say he had more than one though and likely sold one to somebody who mounted it on a vehicle.
I have a Hot Wheels of it that a guy gave me for my 6th birthday.
looks like one of vettes will be cut up soon lol
oh well it doesnt look too nice, just like vette
Here is the brochure from when they were showing that thing.

Here is a Charger III as a drag car. I'm trying to sort through my files here to find the pic from Mr. Norms shop. I gotta edit some of this junk out.

Ok I'll bite, that one you posted is not a vintage photo. As I actually know the car and why would a Chrysler press photo car have dutch plates and a wrong stripe on it?
Arthur
You got me its dated 69 press release photo of a 70 charger
Press photos were frequently wrong. Think of the 69 Charger non RT with Hemi badges, the 70 Barracuda with Hemi and shaker and so forth.
Also, I remembered where the picture of Mr. Norm's shop was, it's in an issue of MCG from the past year. Now if I can just recall which issue.

The charger III model kit
Cool pics Dave!.......never saw that model kit though!......have to add that to my collection of promos, early releases model collection!........if I can find one?..............HOWEVER, seventeen resin layups of the charger III concept body were made and sold, the molds dissapeared/destroyed? shortly after...............where they are today? ::)......................somebody has one! :icon_smile_cool:
MIKE G./DAYCLONA
I built that model when I was a youngone! It wasn't that long ago!Alright maybe it was! :rotz:
Also there is a toy called . Hasbro Amaze A Matic Dodge Charger Vintage .Thats a Charger III
.And the other vintage toy was a kenner lightbeam charger .You shined a flashlight on it and it moved
Kenner Light Beam AMX. Like AMC, way ahead of it's time, these came out in 1969 and were solar powered with two small solar cells on the top of the car! There was also a Dodge Charger. But the little AMX, battery powered, would move when you shined the flashlight (which came in the box) on the roof of the car! Pretty amazingly little car, 1:20th scale, about a foot long. This is the whole Kenner AMX Kit!

Thanks NachoRT74 for sharing those retro charger III showpictures. Those kind of archives you dont find surfing the net.Very cool
well I found them on the web and saved long time ago. I have also another concepts from those years... Diamante, and somekind of GTX with square headlights that I think was assemblied on Argentina
Would like to see the ones for the diamante.I can pm you my email.Unless your going to post them here .Its a dodge still
Interesting design. Say you want to roll down the window, oops, the top flies off at ninety. I guess you can't roll down the window. Or is that a sunroof slash air brake design? Very futuristic looking, I think that was in the movie, "Corvette Summer". Mark Hamill races it against a '71 Firebird. JK
Any concept car is a good car IMO.

Supercharger... and last one a supercharger with the Diamante at a side
69 convertable and the "GTX" hat I think was in fact assemblied in Argentina
Hey Nacho, those are awesome cars. Haven't seen those before. :yesnod:
Those a Steve Julianos car his site with more one off cars and memorabilia .Is www.StevenJuliano.Com
Hey Dayclona,.. You gonna build one of those cars next?.. :icon_smile_big:
The charger III has archives pictures on this site.Along with the topless charger that became the supercharger

I think that one you're calling a GTX is actually a Dart that Dodge commissioned for the show car circuit in Detroit.

I for one Mike would love to see Dayclona build one...............

It would be neat to somebody replicate one I know a guy whos doing the dodge deora. But modifiying a existing vehicle has been done. But this would need to be a ground floor operation. As what exisiing vehicle could be reworked into that car.Maybe Vette :icon_smile_big: .I suppose it could be done by building a box channel frame.A by either using wood body panels fiberglass reinforced.Or by build a metal frame work cage by metal screen or metal rods Then fiberglassed over.To create that unique 68 charger III.
I'm kind of surprised one of the Mr. Norm ones hasn't turned up on e-bay.
ok,.. i want one and the check is in the mail... ;D
or howabout the '99 Charger concept baised on a old Intrepid?.

Another diamante picture
I'm going to say that one of the charger III bodies does exist. If a drag racer was using a body to run then, somebody has to have one of them laying around somewhere.
Now as far as the diamante is concerned. I have some pics of the Diamante that my dad took back in 1980. I think I posted them over on Moparts a few years back.

Hi Guys...I'm the guy building the Deora replica. I'm thinking that maybe for my next project, I would build a running version of either this car, or the Supercharger. Funny how things come around. I've been thinking of this car for quite some time, and have actually started collecting info about it, and then I see this thread.....
The latest bit 'o info I've found: is about the body hanging in the rafters at Mr.Norm's shop.
According to a vintage HOTROD magazine, the "Flying Dutchman" funnycar was built using that very body...believe it. Straight from the pages of the magazine, quoting the driver of said funnycar. Now, I've also heard tell that there was a company in Detriot building copies of this body, years ago. I would like more info on that one...
I'm thinking that building this car won't be too awful hard either. A straight set of rails, basic crossmembers, and a body buck scaled up from the old Model kit would do the trick. The trick is gathering the "vintage" parts to make it look authentic!
I'm finding that building the Deora is quite simple...after all, it's just an A100 truck...with a lot of chopping! Again, the hardest part is collecting the "detail parts"...like authentic Stewart Warner greenline gauges...etc.

It was nice seeing the Diamante at Carslisle, I was surprised at the move on Juliano's behalf to sell the "super charger" showcar once it was in his posession!............it came as a package deal with the Diamante, .....from what I heard?.............$500,000 for both cars!........................Several cars that you don't hear or see of in print, are the RTS Cuda, the Duster I, and the Sonic Cuda.............anybody have vintage shots?...............would be interesting, as you don't see any lititure on these cars!I'm just curious to see what all the "hoopla" is over the RTS cuda, or Sonic Cuda is, I've seen photos back in the day but from what I remember these cars were quite hidieous!

Well I'll tell ya Petey,..............I would love to build an all stock appearing, but BLACK 70 superbird w/ white lettering on the qtrs, and wing, 440/6w/ Keisler 5 spd........................................but then again that pic from behind the seat of the supercharger looks pretty cool with that cut down windshied!.....................don't get me going! that how I built that "Watermelon" thing!

another Supercharger pic!
the Charger III was not a one off car. There was actually a mold made of the car and a few fiberglass body made from that. There were actually suppsoidly 12 produced. One being the show car, another being the drag car and 10 others. Mr.Norm had a few of them, one Charger III body hanging from the ceiling in the 70's I heard before it fell apart, the show car was destroyed in storage and all the other body's were lost to time.

I have a Charger III HO scale slot car. Picked it up a couple weeks ago at a show.

Call MrNorm see if he has one left over.
Somehow, I'm thinking that might have been a limited time offer. :scratchchin:
you can really see the resembelence... to this 1963 sketch and model..
...if anyone knows BRETT KEPNER they might ask him what he knows about the Charger III. Back in 1998 at a nostalgia show at Norwalk , he indicated that he knew the wereabouts of the show car. No idea if he ever persued it or if it was just a "racer" story....
I thought the original had been pretty much wrecked just from being pushed around all the time?
Maybe it was partially destroyed, but salvaged? Or maybe even stored?
Either way, it never was a "real" car...just a Car show model in 1:1 Scale.
But that doesn't mean it couldn't be a real car...someday...
