Title: headlamp delay relay
Post by: Sendero on June 30, 2021, 07:37:55 AM
Did the 1970 Charger use a headlamp delay relay given the hideaway doors? If so, where does the relay mount?

The headlight delay relay was optional on Chargers still with hideaways.

Now, where it mounts, dunno. I know the hideaways relay fits on dash frame around the headlights switch

Since hideaways are feeded from the RUN circuit, I guess when time delay is activated by the correct sequence, doors will remain open still after turn off the headlights and will close the doors as soon you set ign switch back on RUN next time you try to start up the engine

My old 70 r/t se. Had it. It worked great! Leave the lights on, then turned off the ignition and pulled out the key . And in about 3 minutes the lights turned off but the headlight doors stayed open. And at one point in time I had a few electrical gremlins. That caused the doors to close as well. It did  frightened a few people when those doors slammed shut. They were a bit loud. But I never knew where the relay was located? I suspect it was near the headlight switch . I still Remember it's Vin#. XS29UOG118943 triple green.auto console car. A/c & power windows power drum brakes. Previous owner added a go wing.and I added a woodgrain steering wheel and cruise control.

The delay relay mounts on top of the glove box with 2 screws. The screws are visible inside the glove box.
