Title: Anyone running only electric fan setup?
Post by: comet_666 on November 06, 2020, 10:06:55 AM
I have seen on quite a few cars that people have removed the stock fans on their cars and are only running electric puller fans. How does this work out for anyone who is using it?
I saw a guy at a car show a few months back doing this and it overheated in parking lot.

Been working just fine for me. I have a dual Flex a lite set up that is tight but fits. Been on my car for about 4 years w/o any trouble including driving in the summer heat and at the track. I have A/C but have not connected it to test it with these fans.  I am running a higher output alternator as I am also running an electric fuel pump. I did the ammeter bypass modification before any of this.  :Twocents:

sorry for not the best pics..

Champion 4 row downflow 22 inch unit with a single large fan and electric water pump. Block filled roughly to the lower pump holes. Maryland east coast heat. No overheating. I pre-wired for a 2nd fan but have not had a need to install it.

Run dual fans for 10 years/50K miles .Works 2900cfm  11 amps each. They are noisy. I have thought about staggering them. One coming on at a lower temp. Right now all or nothing.

Thanks for the info guys, that's the way I am going to go this coming summer. Do you think this is overkill?

I already have the radiator but would just delete my stock mechanical fan and add this brushless system.

when it comes to cooling fans there is NO such thing as  "overkill" :)

Mind if I ask why a 4 row? How long are the tubes? I thought that modern 2 rows with larger tubes were better than having  more rows with smaller tubes?
