Anyone know the factory sound levels, maybe an original tech bulletin or ?? For 69 440. Nothing in Worksop manual.

Interesting question... and I dunno how/if it was even/ever measured at the factory ?
Standing at the rear behind the pipes maybe ?

Mine still has it's factory original Exhaust System in place... pretty quiet except when romped on ?
and forgive me for saying this,
no attempt at cliche here....  but then it has a 'drone' sound just like the one in the Bullitt soundtrack when punched ?

yeah interesting question,  :yesnod:
cant think why  that information would be needed for our cars, unless its a new type of silly legislation  :image_294343: of knowning how  loud you car is  part of a yearly inspection where you are,  &  was written in for modern type cars,
would be interesting to know  my self  &  which types of mufflers are loudest  v quietest  etc

yip, thats exactly why I was after the info... sillly legislation that my car is "too loud", and "unless you can prove it's the same or quieter to what it was when left the factory, provide some sound readings from 1969"... looks like I have it all sorted, thanks guys.

thats good you got it sorted ,  was  think about your question  earlier ,   just   maybe there is somesort of factory test data  for cars sold in california , i know that had a drive by noise thing going back then  ., cars sold new there  had to have turn down tail pipes  & silenced air cleaners  , as well as  modified distributors( spark timing  & adance curve) also leaner carb set up ( dont quote me on on the last two just trying to remember something ive read  from various sources , could easily be getting mixed up with something else
:shruggy: i await to be corrected :popcrn:
