What is everyone's preference for adjustable rocker arms on a 440? I'm looking for something that will be made well, easy to install and run quiet.
Rocker arms don't make noise.
Find older, used Crane or Isky ductile iron rockers. Or Comp Pro Magnum.
On the ductile iron arms, do you have to shim them or do they simply take the place of the stock rockers?
I have comp steels on the max wedge with crazy spring pressures compared to what most see. Its a great rocker for a good price.

Shimming for side to side clearance and to center the rocker over the valve tip. I have seen shims used to do that before on Mopars that run adjustable roller rockers. The shim usually goes on the rocker shaft and rides against a spacer that helps locate the rocker. I was just wondering if the ductile iron rockers require that shim for adjusting side to side clearance or do they just simply use the stock spacer? I have only ever ran the stock rockers that have a spacer ring between the intake and exhaust rockers and no shims.

I got PRW SS adjustable set which accepts the stock ball to ball pushrods on Hyd tappets setup and I used the shims/spacer of the kit between rockers just because they come with. Allowing a bit of clearence of course.

HOWEVER I can't say these PRW set is "trustable". I mean, the rocker setup itself is really good and I don't think way diff from the Comps steel setup, BUT... I got half of brass bushings seized on the half front of the engine rockers. But is also true I'm pretty sure got a lubrication failure too.

those are "exactly" to the PRWs I got
The prws are NOT the same as the comps. Imo the prws are junk. The problem you ran into is one that many do. The bushings are not clearanced properly to the shaft and burn up. The roller tips are not smooth. There is a reason that they are cheaper then the rest... people will spend 20,000 dollars building a shortblock and then skimp on the heads and valvetrain which is the most critical part to making reliable power.

about the Clearence of the bushings.... I actually feel them just fine. Free movement on the shaft without any effort, and without play. The roller tip is true, is not exactly free but they can be loosen. However IMHO that's not actually worst than the stock rockers.
I thought once on replace the brass bushings with teflon/nylon bushings, but couldn't find an affordable job quote by some machine shop to make that.
Or maybe some other material?
At this moment I have the set it got half of them seized, the new replacements for them, and got another PRW new set on a REALLY nice price. Changing also the shafts with the Hughes ones with the banana cut on oil holes. I think the edges needs to be filed to get softened and prevent to cut the bushing shafts
Yes I know I have now 2 PRW sets which could afford one Good brand set such as Comp magnum ones, but never got all the money at the same time to buy them.
( I actually paid $220 or so for the firs set, and $240 or so for the second )
