Title: Superbird Chin Spoiler Hardware???
Post by: Birdflu on July 18, 2022, 11:35:38 AM
Hey guys!

Anyone have pics or know what kind of hardware was originally used to hold the front spoiler on the nose? Wondering the following...

Type of bolt?
Painted body color or plated?
Washer type, if any?

Pretty sure the 'Rockford' brand hardware store bolts on my car are not correct... :-\

Thanks for the response...I was aware they were/are bolts with rivnuts. More after what type of bolt they were ie anchor bolts with washers or T bolts with washers and if they were painted or not. Anyone?

I believe mine were black phosphate, smaller captive washer, anchor on the head. Approximate overall length 1-1/16". I can't help you whether they are painted or not since I installed my spoiler separately, after paint.

I've seen an assortment of spoiler fasteners over the years, Bird vs Tona', I'm sure "production" builds varied, as did the hardware on hand, the 1/4-20 x 1" SMALL HEX head black flanged bolt seems to be the most prominent that I've seen, it also seems to fit better as the mounting rail for the spoiler is rather narrow....these are the bolts that I supply with my repro front spoilers, they should be steel with a black phosphate finish, but I supply a raw stainless steel version (for rust issues) the head hex is 3/8" (a standard 1/4-20 bolt head is 7/16").... I have plenty on hand if your interested....contact me at dayclona@gmail.com
