Has this car been out and about lately? Does it still wear the custom Graphics from years back?
Last time known The Downings had it

This is one car I've always wanted to see in person. The car's been out here with me
in California my whole life , but I have never seen it ... 70's 80's 90's 2000's.......
I'm sure Sean "C5X" can give us the latest scoop!!!
Jim told me he missed buying the car by a week or two back in the day...
If I had the bucks, the Keith Black car would be the second car I'd make a run at.
The first would be Jim's Ultimate.... here's me pretending like its mine out at Riverside.
Dave
Goofin' around with my cousins at my grandparents house, still in love with Jim's car!!!
Dave
You caught the bug early.

Yes,Definitely Jim`s car #1 - Gilbert`s #2
Anyone got a pic of Jim`s old car now in F6?
AFAIK it's still blue
I thought it had been restored back to F6.
I think the blue paint job above is recent.
http://www.dodgecharger.com/forum/index.php/topic,105637.0.html
I guess the car has never had a real resto done?
Does it need one? (I kind of like the current look myself)
Just looking at the pics of the underside it looks to have some surface rust happening. It needs a top notch resto BACK to the Blue - red combo with the American Daisies back on.

Thank God there's no cure for any of us!!!
My Dad let me take the majority of shots at the National Meet in 78. I had a rough
time because no one would move out of my way to take a picture and everyone ignored me because I was a kid .... here's a couple that caught my eye...
Jim told me the Daisies ended up on this car. When I took these pictures Jim didn't
own the car yet. It was owned by the curator of the Otis Chandler Museum ...
early 90's Spring or Fall Flling.
The F6 Car mentioned above did have the "Daiseys" on it when Jim had it. My brother bought that car from Jim in 1984. He never did get it off the ground (it was in pieces when he got it from Jim). He subsequently sold to to Greg Joseph who then restored it as it appears in the pictures above. My brother kept the "daiseys" and they ended up on a 71 Super Bee.

Chris ,thanks for setting the record straight. It's possible the car went back
to Jim in partial trade for his Hemi Daytona,s... Those daisies have to be the most
expensive in the world, I know I'd want them if I had Jim's petty blue masterpiece.
We talked briefly when you were out here in California with your red 68 Hemi
4sp Charger RT. My Daytona was one number behind yours...410768.
Love Fest,
that's Pete's 66 Hemi in the backround. After he bought the car
from Jim, I never saw it again, I wish we took more pictures of it...
another.
Was the petty blue and red Daytona the one that had an article on it in Hot Rod probably in the late 70s? It was kind of a "Test Drive" type of article. I will see if I can find the magazine this weekend.
I also seem to remember the same car featured on a muffler ad. I am thinking maybe Maremont brand mufflers. I will have to find this ad since I had it on my bedroom wall when I was 15.
The blue daytona was in exhaust ads and in 1975 hot rod magazine article wings
This is from the magazine.
Here it appeared again.

I think Jim`s car is the most significant wing car from that era.A super star if you will.As the car is now it is like KISS with no make up.Just not the same....Put the colors back on.

Amen Brother !!! I couldn't have said it any better.
I'm of the same opinion. There are a lot of customs and race cars that I don't necessarily think MUST remain that way forever (sorry MCG) but some should and this is definitely one.

Hot Rod September 1978 and the muffler ad was Hot Rod August 1979.
I had the muffler ad on the wall in the shop at my parents house for a long time.
The muffler ad I recall was for Maremont

I had that ad on my bedroom wall. I'll have to dig it out, frame it and put it on the garage wall.
I love that car in the blue/red paint scheme.
Who is the guy pictured in the ad? Is it the owner, at the time, of the Daytona?

The guy shown in the ad was a model.
I wandered over here as a fan of the Wing cars and current owner of a 69 Charger RT. I still have that magazine! Very cool car, thanks for the memories! TC

Thanks for stopping in.
That Daytona and article inspired me to build wing cars and built my 1st 'tona clone in metal the same color. Radke didn't live to far away from me as I was in Pasadena, CA at the time and with the the help from 3 well known mopar Mexicans (who own a original blue hemi 4 spd ' tona) I built the car then sold it a few years later...now in Alberta, Canada somewhere...with a Hemi in it I hear.
Jim owned this car twice. Dave you are correct that this is the car Jim got as partial trade for the 2 Hemi Daytona's.

Sean it's nice seeing you on here again. We need your posts and vintage pics from
the vault. Jim said the green 440 was the best one he's ever owned... I knew
what he meant, he was talking condition wise... Jim's the " King of Wing " , he told
me he's owned 4 Hemi's over the years, the Petty Blue one, the Black 4sp, the
Orange Adam 12 one, and the one that was on the cover of the first Mopar Action...
He told me he sold the Mopar Action one before it ever made it out here in California.
A couple more from our local get together ...Cars of the Stars to Pat Nixon Park...
Me and Lou's Bird...
Me and Richard's car. " I shouldn't be leaning on the nose!!! " Like I said before
if you have to run a front plate, this is the way to do it , without the bracket.
Me and the best Barracuda I ever saw. This picture is special because we bought
our car from Steve back in the day...

That Hemi orange 340 six pack Cuda is owned by a good friend of mine. Tom Domoslai. I spent many a summer night ripping gears in that thing.

Super Cool !!! Absolutely Amazing!!!!! I'm glad it still exist and not in the junkyard.
You must be a neighbor of my mine in SoCal... What does the car look like today???
Its got a full tube chassis with a blown Gen 3 Hemi in it. Not quite finished but its real nice. I also know Jim Radke pretty well. I was in RTS club in Orange County in the late 80s with him a few other mentionables. We have probably crossed paths somewhere along the line. What year was the picture of the Barracuda taken? The Domoslais were a big time collectors of anything Hemi. they had an Alpine white Hemi/auto Superbird that was mostly original paint that John bought in the early seventies for under a grand haha. He sold it to the owner of Mooneyes who exported it to Japan but I saw it not too long ago at Barrett Jackson Scottsdale.

the picture's from 1977-78... this white Hemi Bird with a white vinyl top was there
that day too.
Hemi Birds Rule !!!
My Dad let me take a few pics that day...some turned out good, some didn't.These two are ones that I took. I don't know anything about the green 500, but the red and white interior Hemi 500 was Joe Machado's...
This is the first time we saw Jim's car in blue and red. We couldn't believe our
eyes. What a beautiful car !!!
