I like how they thoughtfully provided extra burnt garbage on the hood and roof!

For what I suspect they are asking it's the least they can do!

Maybe it was in a barn so they left the proof of a true barn find

I had though at first was Milt Wood's old Bird.  But no Quarter Panel gas fill (among other differences).

As mentioned above, copart has the VIN as RM2310A170851, that "1" after the 23 has to be a copart typo and its likely V.

On Brennan Cook's Superbird list the burn car is listed as #766 with a vin of RM23V0A170851.
Does anyone know how or when this Superbird burned?

Only a guess: Just prior to the insurance lapsing its Wing was struck by lightening, which may be why it's AWOL.

Here is the V0A170851 back in 2003 at the DSAC / Chicagoland Mopar Connection meet in Chicago.     It was in Park Ridge, just north of Rosemont back then.    So it does not appear to have strayed far, if it all.

Oh no!  Now I know the car and the owner, that's too bad, it was a very decent car that was really never driven.

Dave,
Since you know the owner can you find out what happened?
It may be something that the rest of us should watch out for like a trickle charger!

Word from the owner through a mutual friend is no identifiable cause, even with a private fire investigator.  Also lost a '68 Coronet convertible in the fire   :'( :'( :'(

Very possible!  I was wondering if that's my Daytona next to the blue car, but I think you can see the shadow of a right side mirror, which I don't have, but I was definitely there somewhere!

Dave, I just heard about this yesterday.....   This was the first Superbird that I saw as a kid at Fluky's in Niles.    This is why I own one today.   This is really sad.... I feel so bad for him!

John, I was talking to another Daytona owner a couple weeks ago.  He relayed a story about how a ballast on a modern neon Mopar sign failed and burnt.     We've all seen these; one of those cool looking signs you might leave on in the garage for atmosphere when you pass through to the house.    It didn't take anything with it, but it sure could have.    He's done with them.

The other thing I avoid in the car garage is charging any high energy power tool batteries.    Those scare me with the amount of energy they contain.

Has anyone ever heard of a trickle charger (Battery Tender, Schumacher or similar) failing and causing a problem?     Those are such low amperage and are said to contain circuit protection.   But I wonder as I have three of them running.

Well, that certainly narrows the possible causes down.

Doug,
A fellow CMC member Jim Rhinehart had a garage fire a few years back.
I think that one had something to do with a battery charger?
