Not to sound too biased guys but all these 70 Chargers are just ultra cool and its great to see all the different flavors represented (high impact flavors that is ). I need to take updated pics of mine.
The 70 Charger represents the best of the breed when it comes to 2nd gen chargers! They incorporate all the good stuff every Charger wish they could have...........They will never come this way again. :coolgleamA:
Here are some of my 70 Chargers. My 70 R/T pic is not that great. The 70 is numbers matching 440 4-speed. The burnt orange one is a 383, Auto Burnt orange with burnt orange intereior. And Aligator Grain top. The red one is a 70 318 auto with white interior.

Man that is beautiful! :drool5:
That's the one they used to make that Johnny Lightning 1/64 scale car right? I have that one.....one door scoop is hanging, hood is off and the Hemi is taken out. When I played cars as a kid that '70 would always sit in my "shop". :icon_smile_big:

I can never understand why they are the least "desireable" of the 2nd gens? I have no problem with the front bumper (is that what it is?) the tailights are cool and (correct me if I'm wrong) but didn't they have more options than the 68-69's? i.e high impact colors, 6 pack etc?
I don't know too much about the 2nd Gen's.

I'm a die hard charger lover. Here's my :Twocents:
To me it's the slit grille, and taillamps without the alluminun panel in back that is so cool looking. To each his own is a strong point also. I like 68 and I like 70 but 69 was just perfect in all ways. And it was 70 that had great options and colors.

yep agreed Rob :yesnod: that works for me also all awesome cars ! but 69 for me :yesnod:
The 1970 charger has it all and was the best combination of all three years wrapped up into one.
There is no denying it. :2thumbs:
I like some things about 68's and am now a 68 owner once again. There are some things about 69's that
I admire but there is only one year that is the best of them all and that is the 1970 Charger....and I will say it...they will never pass this way again. :coolgleamA:

It's a silly debate. There were way more 68 and 69 Chargers produced and thus more people have them....and naturally, like 70 guys...they vote for themselves. Each model has different attributes. I personally do not like the split grill, I think it makes the car look weaker, less muscular. The 68 and 70 open grill looks meaner to me.

Exactly! The split grill looks like an afterthought or a change just for change sake....more than likely why they went back to the open grill style is that they saw that it lost alot of flavor and changed it back. :yesnod:
I was thinking the 70 front bumper was an after thought, it seem like Dodge had extra sheet metal left over from the 69 Daytona, and stuck that big ass bumper on there and call it a 70 charger. :shruggy:

Nope that couldnt have been it because the fenders from the Daytona and the Charger actually have their
differences as well. They put alot of thought into it and knew that the chrome would look awesome next to
the new line of High Impact colors....of course for 1970 only! :2thumbs:
These arguments are senseless. What model year someone likes best is a subjective judgemental item.......To each his own!!! They all have their own respective strong points!
I like 68,69 and 70 Chargers. Anyone who owns a 68,69 or 70 Charger has an absolutely beautiful car and great taste in cars. :2thumbs: Now lets get back to just showing some pictures. :Twocents:

John,
The seats are from a Pontiac Fiero. They are comfortable, light and have very good side and lower lumbar support. I
was originally looking at buying some Recaros but they are expensive and these look alot like the type I was going
to buy. They along with the 3 point XV engineering belts I installed really keep you in the seat.
My car is an original 440 RT 4 speed car but is missing the numbers engine and trans so I figured I will build it like how I want it. I didnt modify the floor pane at all but built brackets for them.

When shopping for seats i didnt care what they came out of I was more concerned about comfort, design and adjustability. :shruggy: I had been thinking about some 86-88 Daytona seats as they look similar but good luck in finding some at your local pick-and-pull or salvage yard.

if you still have them in the camera, redownload them and name them, then post. ill post mine tonight too.

I recall mine has 2 round cut outs (maybe 3" dia) in the back panel of each headlight door, but they're covered up by the plastic "grille" Wonder if dodge's intent was to have shine through doors in case the door motor failed.
They made the right choice...Solid looks better IMO, and there's the manual knob on the motor for backup.

So many nice 70's on here. I would love to own one of each year some day. 68 , 69 & a 70. Somehow as of right now I have (3) 70's. I Challenger & 2 Chargers. here is another shot I found of my red 70'.
Here is a shot of my other 70 500 S.E. project. (may be a 69 Daytone clone someday).
And another.

for 1970 charger my favorite color is plum crazy ! man your car is beautifull !! i love it
I have located my first car which was a different 70 Charger R/T than the two I own now. He currently has it cut in the jams in Plum Carzy purple. He has no idea it was originally a triple black car as I still have the fender tag from it since the 80's. Still have not talked to him directly, only thru his buddy. Says he will never sell it. I like it either way purple or black .

Yeah, yeah I know. I already posted my pix on the last page. But that was 1.5 years ago.
I hearby nominate we change the name of page 9 to plum crazy page. While I like my ride, DD & Mike, your cars are tops. When I do restore my car I'd like to put the cruise control & all the options it came with from the factory, a bunch. If I could deviate anything, it'd be leaving the vinyl top off so it'd be as strikingly beautiful as you guys'. Well done gentlemen.
My 1st time @ the track with the new motor. Pretty much a waste with the street tires. Got squirrelly on me @ half track, enough to think I was about to pile it up. This pic shows what looks like me hooking up since the ass end is planted low?

Uh-oh, honey bee invasion. Both beautiful.
I didn't realize how nice your ride was Dan until now. I remember years ago trying to find the air cleaner pre-heat hose from the exhaust manifold. No one made them back then. Had to use some generic piece & painted it. Air cleaner had to be set a certain way (flex) to keep from showing where the paint had flaked off. ;)
Nice rides boyz.
Heres a pic of my car long before I bought it. This is from the early 80's when I was still in diapers and my 383 4spd sure grip car still had a shine.

AKcharger, cool that you have pix from back then. Where is that, Florida? Nice, straight rig there. There weren't a lot of old Mopars around. Jerry Junemann was local & snatched up whatever was available. :RantExplode:
I'm an '83 grad. In '82 I was on my 2nd car, '77 Trans Am. Luckily I was able to get out of my 1st car, '70 Camaro w/6 cylinder & 3 speed on the floor manual. I got made fun of, teased & bullied over a car. I didn't know better of course installing traction bars & shackles lifting up the rear, (shortly after that the abuse started) My parents were just divorced.
Surprised you were able to take a pic. You must have had rich parents. Back where I lived we hadn't even heard of a camera yet. ;)
Anyone see what the V code car sold for tonight? Weak @ mid $40k when some of the other Mopes brought way strong money. My buddy Tom banked with his black '68 Super Bee clone, holy cow...high $40k. :o
Strange, it had both stripes on it & prolly should have saved that paint for the hood scallops for under the hood call outs. The call outs weren't centered, lined up on the bottom line of the scallops. Just kind of there.
Hmmmm.

Wow, good eye! yup Port Richey Fl. The car looks good but in actuality it was more rusty in 1981 when it was only 11 years old than my present was Charger in 2002 when it was 32 years old!
LOL about the camera, I had a polaroid, wish I would have taken more photos.
Not sure who Jerry was but my step, Brother Ralph Piozack, was big into E-bodies. He was a dirt-bag but I do credit him with giving me the Mopar bug. While the stories about him could go for pages, I'll just say he did have some nice E-bodies but he was a rip-off artist. There's someone right now driving around a blk/blk '70 Hemi Challanger convertble that he rebodied and I'm sure sold for a mint.
Anyway here's another in the background...disregard the crashed motorcylce, a Chevy Chevette backed into the road in front of me as I was doing at 35mph...zanny old people :slap:

Thanks for posting those pics Don, I still remember seeing that car in a barn around Hamilton. It must have been before you bought it. It sure was a rough back half, way beyond anything that I would want to tackle, but it sure looked good. I was still tempted to buy it. It turned out nice, it stopped me in my tracks at Moparfest the first year it was there. Back in the 80's lots of cars like that got parted...
Dave
Dave, that may have been the same car from when I owned it. It was stored at a place visable from the QEW near Hamilton. It was rough but worth restoring. I bouht it off a guy at a farm east of Toronto about half way to Kingston. I sold it to Hoffman who started Moparfest.
Here are pictures I had taken before I sold it...

I'll throw in the limited pics I have of my new acquisition. Still in storage. '70 R/T 440.
Here's a pic of the Auto Trader ad from when I went to see it. It was in a barn covered in bird crap, I can't recall exactly where I went to see it...maybe Mount Hope. Too bad I didn't carry a camera with me 25 years ago. Is it ok if I steal your pics Don?
It would have to be the same car no?
At the time I think he would have let the R/T go for $1500...
Dave
Dave, not the same car. Engine was basically in the trunk. Yes you can use the pictures.
Is there any other FY1 R/T SE's on tan with perf hood paint out there?
My 25 year old memory recalls that there is no way an engine could have been in the trunk cause there wasn't much left back there.
Its weird cause as rough as the car looked the doors opened and closed perfectly...
I just assumed it was the Hoffman car. Too bad I didn't carry a camera with me when I went barn hopping back in the day.
Dave

I mean, c'mon man, it won't fit in the trunk? I've never seen someone or done it myself...actually filled up the trunk of a B body. ;) Sure, it'll fill up quick with fenders or bumpers, etc.
Four or five people in a charger going on vacation might need one back in the day. :scratchchin:
My R/T S.E. is an original luggage rack car. I have always hated this option on Chargers. It is the most out of looking place option ever on a Charger. One of the previous owner must have removed it prior to me owning it. I have another deck lid with the luggage rack installed to go back on the car someday once it is all repainted. That way I can just swap it back on for the big shows.

That's what I wanna do.
I added the rack back to mine, but still would rather have a Go-Wing decked out lid to swap on for day-to-day driving.
Save the rack for shows where folks sweat codes. :icon_smile_big:
I thought I'd bring this one back to the top. I had my Charger out for the first time in a few years.
Luggage rack is there...you just can't see it :icon_smile_big:
Dave

Love this car. Used to see it at the east side shows. Bring it out more. What's the hold up? Looks like it just needs a wash to me.
Did wash it, Just need insurance & my other used front bumper & grill installed. Old grill cracked up, ect. It has original paint & 24,000 miles. LEON.
Leon, are you another paint/body guy that doesn't like car cover's? :shruggy:
I always used to use a car cover on it. But then car cover got to dirty to put back on. LEON.
Last weekend, new rear tires.
Leon, time to sell it to me. :yesnod:

Excellent! Nice looking car.
great 70.
I really like that yellow & white. You've done a nice job. I like the fact you striped it but held off on adding the R/T option.
I do believe it's the 1st one I've seen in that combination. :2thumbs:
Thanks:) for many years i want a mustang fastback, but they are wery over-priced..
One day there were a 70' charger 383 burnt orange for sale. Unrestored, 44000 miles, one owner. North-carolina car.
I had too see it!! Only 2 hours drive.. Close too Lillehammer. (Olympic games 1994)
When i walked in too his garage there was not only one 70' charger, but two!! Both original, Unrestored!!
I was shaking!! The top banana car had all of my attention.. Love at first sight :)
After i had a spin in both the orange was a grandma compared too the yellow lady, much because the 2:45 diff in the orange and 3:23 in the yellow.
The yellow was not for sale, but after a few days and couples of phones the car was mine :2thumbs:

From a Fathers Day car show this year. I liked how the sublime Challenger R/T convertible is reflected on the side.
