That car was on eBay in February, 2007 with a B-I-N price of $220k. I guess we're officially in a Mopar Recession :P
I don't mean to nit pick the car, I would give my left nut for it. The valance corners look different comparing them to each other. He doesn't discribe any bodywork details either. I wonder how much original sheet metal is on the car. It is a Cali car so maybe the corners came that way from the factory?
And electric headlight motors ??????? WTF???????????

What good does it do to hang onto a non-matching Broadcast Sheet, especially when the "right" car is located?
A condition of the sale should be that the name/contact info of whomever has that sheet is provided. Who knows, maybe the mystery Daytona owner just didn't want to provide for free what would only be used to line the pockets of Desert Valley? :shruggy:
Oh, and I already have 6 DaytonaSE's logged in my meager-but-growing Database. There are bound to be way more than that in existence.

Definitely a possibility, but I doubt any dealer would contact someone and not make them believe they are the new and proud owner of a Daytona and were hoping they could get the sheet just to make their dying father a happy man ;). I'm sure they didn't call and say "Hey, we are trying to sell a Daytona, give up that sheet".
I can somewhat understand why someone would not trust passing on original documentation these days. It seems like everyone is out for a buck. I mean how many guys buy a Daytona in this day and age and own it for more than 5-7 years? Probably not many. :Twocents:
How come the underside of the headlight pods are black and the top of them are yellow? Is that the way they all came?

No, they did not come exactly that way, although there are portions of the headlight pods & buckets that did not get complete body color paint coverage. The whole nose was painted as an assembly after it was installed on the car, including having the headlight bulbs (lamps, for you purists out there) mounted in place and masked off. What could be sprayed with the headlight pods raised was what got painted body color.
While there are a bunch of "technical" things wrong with that car, it is still an authentic Daytona SE - which puts it in pretty rare company. It is really interesting to see some of these flippership-owned cars being relisted with much lower prices/reserves. Wonder if they think the market will continue to drop and they don't want to be sitting on a high-dollar inventory when the music stops??

i've seen this before where people want to make sure that they have 'trade bait' for their sheet. since daytona A may have car B's sheet, but car A's sheet may be in car C, owner A is hoping to trade for his sheet more than he wants to 'give up' 'his' sheet.
i'm not condoning, just explaining...

I think Doug nailed it on why the person in possession of the sheet probably wouldn't give it up. Because most cars don't have their correct sheet they feel more comfortable at least having a sheet than not having one at all. Even if its not the sheet that goes to their car.
I know of a HEMI 500 owner who bought his car new, and it had the wrong sheet in it. However has located the correct sheet to his car, but the person who has it won't give it to him. But has gladly given him a color copy. Which to me doesn't make sense entirely, but I can see it somewhat. Too bad that the sheet for the second car wasn't in the first one to make an even trade.
Green rear seatbelts...or is that just my monitor? :shruggy:
At the very least, I guess the owner of the original sheet was nice enough to give them a color copy.
Nice looking car. I was surprised to see the price that low, looks like Geno's probably right, we're on the downside of the ride for a while. :)

My thoughts exactly. $130k for a flipped, bent, rotted Daytona or $160k for a rather minty one? Not a big fan of the butter-teeth yellow but I sure as hell would buy it if I could!

you are so correct sir
Which is why I :D when I think back and know that of all the cars that my dad sold years ago are all still in the hands of the people who bought them off of him. So at least I can say that maybe he sold them all to nice people instead of flippers.
What's wrong with buying a car then making money off of it? That's how you make cash to fund your projects without getting a second job....or a loan. If most on here bought a car for 5K tomorrow and then someone says I will give you 10K it would be sold. I use to get up at the crack of dawn and search the paper for deals. Earlybird gets the worm. If someone is selling something for X amount why say heres more because your a moron and it is worth more.....most often you have to do work to flip them anyway unless you are made of money and buy and store then sell later, unless it is one of those deals where you buy it for the parts you need and sell the rest for sometimes more .........ask Travis. I bet that's how he has such a sweet collection. :Twocents: (Sorry Travis that I used you as an example.....I don't think anyone hates you on here.....maybe just a little envy but I'm just jealous :2thumbs:)

There is a project Daytona in Milwaukee that is available. V2, white stripe, black interior, 440 auto, non numbers engine, has fender tag and build sheet, same owner since 1985 and has been a local car since new. The car is not missing anything. The sheet metal is above average for an unrestored car. The drivers floor will need some work, but it is not bad. In my opinion, the nose shell is pretty lumpy and will need rework or a McGaughey replacement. Engine is currently out of the car. $95,000. He's more interested in cash versus a trade.
Thanks Dave... I'll check it out.

flippers SUCK.. lol man you are right bro, i would probably have 1 nice car and 1 project car by now if i hadn't bought and sold. i don't care if i'm disliked for it.. 99% of people out there would have done the same thing for easy money. doesn't make me love my keepers any less or make me not a true charger lover.. as for these daytona and superbird hoarders.. that is the kind of flipping that is so risky to begin with. sure they have all the cars.. but they did it for money, and if people won't pay what they want,. some rich guys will cut their losses eventually and good deals will be had.. because lots of these owners don't give a FLIP about the car itself. it's a investment object simple as that

no plug so it's a clone and no way would you even be close to mine let alone do burn out in it
OK , I took a hard look at the car , here is what is wrong , and would not take much to make perfect , but I guess the owner is clueless !!!
wrong hose clamps
wrong battery
pep boys battery cables
head light doors as mentioned wrong color around lights
hood cables
left rear bumper bent !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
side reflector bezel not painted body color
front suspension too low
lower front valence does not fit nose properly
My point here is this , if you want big money , make the simple things correct , any third grader can tell you that !!!!!!!
Well he did get one simple thing correct that no clone will. XX VIn.
There are a few other things in the engine compartment that aren't right either. Brake booster should be painted black, all of it. The hood latch on the car isn't correct either. Incorrect voltage regulator as well. The bezels your right should be painted body color on the front, but the rear ones should be stripe color.
Does this make the car less valuable? Some what. But to think that his buy it now of $150K is way off would be incorrect. Especially coming from someone who thinks that "properly" done clone would be over $100K.
Easy cupcake , all muscle cars have taken a hit recently !!!!!! I buy 2 -3 cars a week , that value in on my clone was for a hemi clone that is close as possible to a 700 k Hemi clone .

The price has been lowered again to $147,500. The car's problems must be turning buyers away.
And how about the white Superbird (160170208791) for a b.i.n. price of $99,500. Not perfect by a long shot but still a nice driver. Looks like the buyers just aren't out there like they once were. Wasn't the Daytona priced even lower in one of the earlier eBay listings?
with the current market, I think many investors are just gun shy about sticking there money in old cars and I don't know about the rest of you but I speak for at least one guy that just loves these cars, 99k is simply out of reach financially. now at 50 or even 60 K I would be mortgaging property and selling off toys to own one of these

i would think that most people selling aren't the ones who've had the cars for more than a couple years, and therefore have a lot in them. it's a lot different to sell a car like ours that cost $2400 for $85K than someone who paid at least that much a few years ago.

Well, If someone goes to the trouble to change those things, then the whole car has and it's authenticity has to be questioned
I don't think that I've seen anyone mention the mileage has been altered. Just that doug pointed out that the car had 109K on it back in the 80's. It has more than likely changed hands several times since then, and the newest owner is probably unaware that it has rolled over the 100K mark. And figures that with it being in the current condition that it isn't a 100+K car.
