I was wondering if anyone has pictures of, or heard of, a Superbird wearing Ice Blue Poly. Ice Blue Poly was B3 code for a few years but then the B3 shade switched. 1970 and 1973 have different paint mixes (i.e. DuPont, Ditzler). I know of only one car: The EPA 'Bird (pictured here). Did any show up at any winged car meets? Thanks
The one you've posted above is the only 'Bird I've seen that color. I do own a '70 Satellite convertible that's B3 though!

Thought this car was originally born white?? :shruggy:
Think so the EPA superbird was whit
It was originally Alpine White, but Ray Nichels painted it EPA blue.

Nichels should have taken it to Earl Schieb. Earl paints the door jambs too, all for $29.95. :smilielol:

Yes: EPA 'Bird was originally white per the story on internet. I'm not saying or asking if there were any factory cars painted B3. I'm wondering if somebody beside Ray N. and EPA liked B3 and painted any other 'Birds that color. My first post also mentioned that the shade of B3 changed over the years (in case anyone wasn't sure if I was aware of that). I believe 1972/73 B3 was more "Petty" blue, yet purposely not the actual shade of Petty Blue.

My vintage 72-73 Mopar can of Super Blue states "TB-3". It is the same shade of Petty Blue.
Here's a pic of the original left side headlight door of the #88 Engineering Daytona.
The original paint color is exactly the same as the 1972-73 TB-3 MoPar paint can it's siting on.
Don White removed it when he got the car from Chrysler Engineering at the end of 1970.
The headlight cover had limited sunlight exposure from Sept. 1969 to December 1970.
Nothing after that!
There's a video that exists showing Charlie Glotzbach driving the #88 to the pole position for the first Talladega 500 in Sept. 1969, 199.446 mph.
In that video clip, the #88 is parked next to Petty's Torino before the record run.
It's can be seen the cars are the exact same color.
So: Petty Blue = color of the #88 for first Talladega race and thereafter = original headlight cover = TB-3 can of paint = all the same color.
Keep in mind, different PC monitors or phones may show it "differently".
Is the "999" code SuperBird blue exactly the same? That I can't tell you. I don't have an original painted, un-faded, one here to compare...
Key words are "original un-faded" paint. Does an original painted 999 Blue Bird exist?

Does an original painted 999 Blue Bird exist?
Jim Walton used to own an original paint 999 code Bird, as far as I know Tim Welborn owns it now
Car came out of Tennessee , Jim sold it to Harold Sullivan so he could trade it to get the Silver Bulllit
Not sure , when or how Tim Welborn ended up with it
Wasn't the barn find "first" petty blue car still original paint?
Just checking again. Anyone know of a "Bird being painted 1970 B3 or similar? Not a factory paint job. Time frame 1971 to 1977 in the Virginias area.
My 'Bird is a factory B5 car, then over that looks like 1970 B3 (or very close; such as the EPA blue). Then, over the B3 is the third and final color: painted in May 1977 with code #5351-D (1972 & 73 code B3, AKA Corporate Blue and other names) Not just the door (pictured here), but the rear window plug and other places have all three colors.
Anyone remember a 'Bird as B3? Possibly had a custom paint with B3 base? Thanks.
