Title: Wonder how this discovered 69 daytona is doing
Post by: nascarxx29 on March 08, 2006, 05:55:24 AM
My friend John sent me this site that has a discovered 69 daytona on it and 2 superbirds..The way the daytona  1/4 daytona stripe is shown cracking. Is a exact match how mine is cracking. And I got a smaller dent on the pass side 1/4 like this car.And mine is also a R4 red automatic white stripe car

69 500 looks like yours pictured .Cant be 2 DODGE decal on the pass wing upright daytonas. Was this one of your dads old cars.Is this current daytona discovery picture a hoax??.Is that the location and woodien shed where your dad may have bought it from originally back in the day.Notice that the 1/4 on the pass side is folded under

Going by the DODGE decal on the wing upright and 1/4 damage on same side and same color car and stripe color.Same car it would appear. It says it will be restored for 2006 .

Danny,  I didn't remember the Dodge logo on the wing of your dads old car.  I saw the logo on the site that I pulled that picture from yesterday, but failed to make the connection.

Any chance you could talk to them about selling to you before they start the restoration?  They might be admittedly a little reluctant to sell - unless they recognized the connection you have to the car.  Might be worth a shot??

my investigative CSI eagle eye would say it is the same car.......if you look at the top of the wing you can see some kind of black mark....it looks to appear in both pictures.

That's the allen-head wing adjustment bolt, and you're correct - it is black in both of the pictures.  Normally those are painted up to match the wing color.  They are black phosphate before being painted, so perhaps this wing's bolts were replaced?

Good eye, Sydmoe!

The picture I posted was taken in Fortville Indiana in 1981 or 1982. I know it was before 1982 as we moved out of that house before 1983. The picture I posted is of my dad's Daytona, his 1970 Charger R/T, as well as you can make out a just a bit of the Q5 Charger 500 in the picture as well.

Gene your correct the rear quarter was crumpled on my dads car, but wasn't gone. He drove that car back and forth to work, and someone tried to steal the wheels off of it when he was at work. They must have got spooked before completeing, as when he got in it to drive home the wheel came off when going down the interstate. The tire crumpled up the quarter panel as it came off of the hub.

I remember going on so many rides in that car when I was a kid its crazy. In my gut I don't think it is the same car, but who knows it could be. I'll call my dad and ask him what he thinks of the pictures posted. For some reason it doesn't strike me as being the same car, but they both do have the same decal on the wing. But then again i don't think that was too uncommon for a car back in the late 70's early 80's.

I wouldn't go as far as to say the investigation is complete unless you talked to them and figured out that no it wasn't the same car, and never spent any time in Indiana in  the late 70's to mid 80's.

Nope, I don't have the VIN's to any of my dad's old cars other than the ones that I have already tracked down. IE the R4 red Daytona with red interior, the Q5 charger 500, and the HEMI 500. I knew the VIN to 2 of those cars, the other found through DSAC.

The bottom of the quarter looks like it was beat with a big hammer and a 2x4.The damage over the wheel doesn't look related to the damage on the bottom. It wouldn't have been to much of a job to get it the damage from the wheel coming off back to where it is now. :Twocents:

Pete/chargervert,

I'll make it clear:

Cut the bashing out.  Period.

If you're stating your opinion about someTHING, that's fine.  Leave the personal attacks of someONE out of it.

Got it?
