hey! does anyone know how rare a 69 R/T charger stripe delete car is? an all original sheetmetal car with #'s matching drivetrain??
Not too sure, but they are out there and I have seen a few. My '68 R/T is a stripe delete as well, but it's going to get one whether it likes it or not. And by the way, WE LOVE PICS.
Well I've deffintley seen more '69 R/Ts with stripes than stripe deletes

They are quite uncommon, but I don't know how rare by production numbers. My 1969 Charger RT (triple green) and my 1970 Charger RT (triple black) were both stripe delete cars (with the large RT emeblems on the side). You do see alot more striped RTs at shows......
hey. its a car i have now that i bought about 10 years ago from a guy in pittsburgh, pa. i even have the original window sticker for it. all original sheetmetal and numbers matching. paid $900 for the car and man do i wish i could find them today for that!! i will try to get some pics for you guys. i know i like pics too! it's really buried now. :yesnod: :yesnod:
both of my 69 R/T's are original stripe delete cars.. i am putting a stripe on one of them.. they seem way less common now because most opt for the stripe when restoring regardless. not many people like the sleeper look these days...

i fell that when a person sees a Charger driving, they automatically think it is a 440 or hemi. hard to fool people with these cars.. :D
Geez after reading these comments, I'm beginning to think my striped car is the rare one.
Personally, since mine is a 4 sp RT I think of it as 1 of 1805 or whatever...but I could care less if they made a million of them. After 25 years of wanting a '69 Charger 4 on the floor I have one. Thats enough for me.
My 69 R/T SE was originally a triple green (F5) stripe delete car. (Now its triple black with a white tail stripe.) I think alot of original stripe delete cars are now wearing stripes.
For perspective I have 243 R/T's registered with the V88 stripe delete code
I have 247 R/T's registered with stripes....

Mine was also stripe delete.....I think ALOT of R/T's were.
The Charger R/T was TOP OF THE LINE for Dodge for a performance, luxury car, so many older folks bought them new, and they didn't want the stripe. The younger guys were buying RR's and Superbees, which were more affordable to them, and more racey, so to speak.
The original owners of mine were in their mid 40's when they bought it....
I would bet stripes were popular when these were used cars as well. My baseline Charger was repainted in the late 70's and had a stripe added to it (it was painted on).
When I started sanding my V88 car it had a painted on black stripe over a white stripe.

5 that are stripe delete (V88)
4 with a white stripe (V1W)
