Alright, here are 3
First is ramp truck with Hemi Bird on the back. It will be pulling the 24' trailer with Y2 yellow Daytona inside.
The ramp will be followed by the Dodge pickup pulling the Alaska bird on open trailer
This will be followed by our Silver metalflake bird which we are driving. The last picture shows us ready to roll. All the tires, brakes, lights, signals, chains, fluids, belts are checked, most are new. Lots of extra parts in the ramp truck storage, plus 8 chairs. Coolers pre-loaded, will ice in the morning.
I think Ernie Hildebrand is meeting up with us to caravan down. We are leaving southern Indiana Thursday morning 8-8:30am driving south on I-65 to Birmingham, then 280 to the parking area.
Due to miscommunication we have an extra reservation for Friday 10/11 & Saturday 10/12 at the Hampton Inn in Alexander City AL. Please let me know if anyone is in need of this room. I would love it if someone would be able to use this room. Please contact me at 386-867-4412.

Thanks Mr Taxman ,for pix.starting your own caravan it looks like, great line up. Hope more post info. :popcrn: :2thumbs: :popcrn: :2thumbs:
The wives were asked to have their pic taken!
OK, Here are a couple. The purple Bird is pictured with 35 years of owners-Mike Hill on the left, Bob Jennings in the middle and Sy Behrens on the right. I was intrigued by the Nuremburg Daytona.
Now, here is what is going to happen soon. We drove our gray bird down with the trusty GoPro on the wing. Recorded all the way down, including meetup's with Ernie's Daytona and Stuarts Bird convertible. We then recorded ALL DAY friday-every 5 seconds a shot, so on Monday (?) we hope to get into them, organize and somehow put a link somewhere so everyone can see and download if they wish. I will leave that to Matt who is th video specialist and who drove the gray bird round trip, all the while wearing a s___-eating grin!
The other picture I took this afternoon in Bowling Green, KY on the way home. We stopped for the wives to do their business and for the gray bird and other truck to gas up, all at the exit where the Corvette Museum resides. I thought it would be a cool picture to have it in the background because of the obvious inadequacies of Corvette owners. As I stopped in front these 2 guys were doing something, and in my 2nd shot the guy in the red shirt is walking towards me yelling What the hell do you think you are doing? I calmly responded "trolling for assholes" and drove off!
More to come. The best non "life event" 2 days of my life.
Bob J
3 More
A magnificent F8 Daytona, the 2nd most beautiful color after A4
Ernie Heldebrand's Daytona with the purple Hemi at some gas station on the way down.
And the view from the hill of a few birds on one of the finest days in history

Anyone know how many wing cars and 500's showed up ?
I counted 12 C500, 2 were cloned as Daytona's. Not sure on count of other cars.

Would have been 13 but I did Atlanta but not Talladega.

Who would clone such a rare car as a C500 into a Daytona? A bog stock 70 into a Daytona?...thats fine....but a 500? That's insane to my mind.

back in the day, no one cared about 500s... Get a wing and nose assembly from Ted Janak and voila, you had a Daytona........
500 lives matter !!!!
I guess I never thought of it having been done years ago. Still a shame though....personally I would far rather have a 500 than a Daytona.

2602 miles on the truck and trailer and an additional 493.8 miles on the Bird, but we're back home in one piece. Gonna take a few days to get the "house" back in order and some pictures together and downsized to post here..
Great meeting MANY from the board.. unfortunate that we somehow missed a few.

very cool photos, ben. it was great meeting you
It was great meeting everyone, my Family had a great time. My 500 was not completely done the way I wanted it but just had to get it there anyway possible. Cant wait for the next one so I can spend more time talking with everyone more.
Only three I've found time to downsize so far... the important ones at least!!
Myself and Jerry Hall, MoparJohn and myself and Myself and Bob Jennings.
Thanks for posting Wayne, glad you guys got home, and putting faces with names in these 3 pictures is excellent!
Bob
Another thanks for posting the pictures Wayne!
We got a lot of looks when we were driving the Daytona.
I can just imagine what people thought when they saw us in our costumes on Saturday evening!
Glad your wife hung in there and made the trip!

That's real interesting that there are still some C500 into Daytona clones!
In my book they aren't clones, just Daytona conversions with an earlier XX code... :2thumbs:
The same thing was done to my C500 back in the day.
The wing mounting holes on one quarter were carefully welded back up and the other rear quarter was replaced, so the holes on that side have gone.
Story being is the car was damaged so the owner thought it was a good time to convert her to Daytona, as C500's were 'two a penny' as we say in the UK.
One original fender survived and the other was replaced.
Some of the special grille items were rusted, due to being stored badly but mostly salvageable.
Yep I was tempted to keep her as a Daytona conversion but C500's are much rarer and easier to put in a UK garage lol... :scratchchin: :scratchchin: :scratchchin:

I just tried your link and did not work
Said This page is not available or the link may be broken and then tried to get me to sign into face book
If you are not on Facebook.. it's not going to work. There use to be a "link" icon on FB that would give you a webaddress to let anyone access, but it appears to have been removed.. or I'm just blind.

Im not on Facebook (I have a REAL life and REAL friends!....lol) but that link worked fine for me. Great pics.

So do I... what a thing to say dipshit.. I use it for albums that make it so much easier to post restoration threads here and elsewhere (with copy and paste) for others to learn from. Glad you like the pictures !

Yes....point taken.....I'll get my coat. Taxi for Dean!
LOL Dean.. you could use it to post pictures of your restoration. Nice thing FB already downsizes them so they'll fit here too ! :icon_smile_big:
"so who gets the long distance traveled award"
I may not get the longest distance traveled award.....but I may just win the most miles traveled in a single day.....drive from Northern Arizona too San Antonio the first day....
It was well worth the hours on the road to see all the cars assembled at the museum, only wish I could have brought my car. But, I could have done 75 - 80 mph most of the time with a trailer. Drove the motorhome.
Thanks to all for posting pictures......... :2thumbs:
Roughly how many miles is that?....for the benefit of us foreigners!
Around 1,081 miles according to Google....16 hours plus....
Wife and I drove 1300 miles each way and put 493.8 miles on the Bird on top.. no where near the "distance" winners. We had two brothers from WAY up North in Quebec drive their Bird all the way there and back.. and at least 5 guys that drove their Daytonas / 500's and Birds from Washington State, a good 2600 miles EACH way.
Some of those guys took routes to hit other car events/places and journeyed 7000 miles +/-. Love it :2thumbs:
It reminds me of a quote I saw for the first time today near the harbor in Olympia, WA: "A ship is safe at harbor, but that's not what ships are for." - W.G.T. Shedd
Put 7,700 miles on my 500. We went the long way.
