Actually. it sounds too good to be true. After all that work performed and not far from completion and the guy just gives up and wants to sell it for cheap....just my first reaction after reading the description. Maybe he is hurting for money? Can't afford to finish the project but selling for so cheap? 'Birds haven't been that cheap for a very long time. Its' either a great deal or something is fishy. :-\

Only available for 2 weeks.  How much you want to bet someone is tired of their spouse working on the car?

Or the guy is out to sea working on an oil rig or he's from Nigeria and needs to sell his brothers car or............ sounds fishy to me...

Agree.  Unless he owned the car for 20 years, he would be upside down on this big time.

The ad may be legit since the seller never said that the car is an original Superbird. It might be a replica made from a Satellite with crappy parts that that don't fit & sag like 90 year old breasts & he's sick of dealing with.

The 601 area code is Mississippi, & on the same website, the phone number is in an ad for a bucket truck & an expired ad for a Volare Super Coupe.

Something's fishy. RacingJunk isn't a bid site but he's talking about bidding. Sounds like it was copied from ebay or something.

The phone number is unlisted, and is a cell phone number.

A bit more information, from the seller information name of superbirdms on the Racingjunk site.

There is a superbirdms listed as a member of ebay, listed as a member since 2/2008, which would somewhat indicate the person is reputable.  BUT, the superbirdms member does not list the area, and has never sold anything, so I can't guarantee that this person is the same person as the seller here.  On ebay, there were two purchases among several that might be interesting to people, the Superbird serial number list purchased 9/27/11, and  a Roadrunner Beep-Beep Horn NOS purchased 2/20/11.

I don't know if this helps, hurts, or is totally worthless, but if somebody is really interested maybe they can save a bit of time with this research I did.

I think we are just too conditioned to crazy prices vs what you get. When we see a fair offer we just think scam. I saw the ad and thought its just a car guy that wants to get out of it. Seemed legit, he is probably fishing to see what the market wll bring by saying taking bids.

In reality is a project 440 bird really worth that much over 40k ? Wasn't there a survivor daytona with the dash out and some other parts for like $70k ?

If the body is solid he says he has all the parts and some resto work done already IE unibody in paint. I'd say 40k is fair.

Why was everyone thinking scam 40k not enough ?
