Anyone familiar with this one?

Wow !!! Nice find !!
Danny, that's in your neck of the woods........ You know of this one already?
and mine was appraised at 41K :bawling: I musta missed something..
Looks like someone was planning to make a Daytona clone. That would be a nice project. Too bad I don't have the space or skills.... :brickwall: ;)
Dan
overpriced in my opinion, but still a legitimate aero car
looking through the right door opening and seeing grass where the left quarter panel should be is interesting
judging by the ad's map it is 15 minutes north of me, should anyone want it checked out
there's a go-go bar a block or two away from there that i could check out, too...
Seller just bought that a few weeks ago for 14k. I talked to the guy in Washington that was selling it. He said it was a green on green car and he pulled it from a junkyard in the Spokane area.

Yea this is that one. Sold fast. The seller said someone in Indiana bought it right away.
I inquired about one in CT a couple years ago. No tag and in boxes. 1/4 was cut off with air chissel into the plug area. Missing back glass and trim. Was around 15k if i recall.
Considering this one has good floors and rails not so bad imo. With 39x ever produced and cars now over 40 yrs old not really a buyers market for project C500's.
Does Danny have the info on this car like the vin #
I tried calling three times today but no return call yet. Hoping to gather info.
So he bought a car and moved it from WA to Indiana hoping to make a $2500 profit less gas money, hotel, and U-haul trailer rent :shruggy:
If you cant reach the current seller, the number for the seller last month was 509-362-3726. He might have written some info down.
Flipperdeedoodah!
Don't that just annoy the crap outta you!!!
Flipping Flippers!!!
Some one buy this car quick and see her RIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :pity:
5J
Why O why do 69-500's get treated so badly???????????????? :shruggy:
Have now left 3 voicemails but no return call. Hope he calls back. Listed as being near Muncie, and I will be in Muncie next week.
Given the low profit margin, maybe this was a case of someone getting the car home and having a "what the hell is that?" conversation with their spouse. :scratchchin:
Hi Honey,
Its a 1969 Charger 500 Nascar homologation car!
They only made less than 500, so I'm told.
What's a NASCAR, is that like demolition Derby racing?
If it is so rare, who in their right mind would wreck it?
Obviously it ain't worth nowt or they would have looked after it???
Same conversation I had with my wife in 2004!!! :icon_smile_blackeye:
Still trying to explain that 500 isn't just a trim option!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :brickwall:
5J, gonna get a Daytona as no-one gets 500's!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :pullinghair:

They are appreciated today, but back in the 70's when they saw their most abuse, 500s were considered the red headed stepchild of Chargers because they just weren't as good looking as a regular Charger. Plus, I'd say that they were more unknown than known & back then and their rarity just wasn't much of a factor in their value or preserving them.
In the 80's unless it was a Hemi 500 a charger R/T was more expensive. My dad paid $500 for a 500 in 1981
I remember in 1986 at vo-tech school there was a kid in auto body who had a 69c500 that was red with white stripe 440 car, he would beat the car every time going to school and leaving school. I guess maybe he did not know how rare the car was or he thought it was just another charger.
I remember a conversation I had in the mid 80s. The guy I was talking to told me about a wrecking yard he went too that had one. The owner of the yard said that the 500 charger was one of the cheep ones without headlight doors and was in line for the crusher.
Hi Aero's,
I can understand a Junkyard crushing cars, any car, as it's 'just a car'!
But here in the UK the word 'CHARGER' was like saying Lotus Cortina, Cosworth Escort etc.
To think that C500's were that unknown in the US is sometimes beyond belief?
Here's (maybe) where the absence of the R/T logos were its ultimate downfall.
In the distant past, simple breakdowns in 10 year old car were its death-knell.
I had a 69 R/T Charger in 1990 and it broke a lower balljoint, it took six weeks to get one!
The unfortunate thing is now that most things for Charger resto's are available, the interest amongst the young is gone.
Basic resto cars are dearer than up and running 'superfast' rice-burners!
And lets not forget these cars are getting on for 50 years old!!!
I have worked on a few Wingcars in my time, some of them ran into $100,000 restorations!
Thats half the price of decent house in the UK!!! :eek2:
My 500 sold for $300 in 1978. It was complete, but worn out. The guy who saved it from the crusher did so because he know the 500 meant something special, but wasn't sure why.
About the same time in the same town, I bought a 68 R/T 4 speed with a bad quarter panel (88k hard miles) for $400 and parted it out. :brickwall:

No.
Finally got an answer about the project car. Going to look at it next week. Getting pictures of fender tag today.
Cool hope it is a new one to the census.
Well he never sent the pictures. Guess I will keep calling
Good luck with the purchase!
DON'T THINK THEY'VE MADE ANY SINCE DECEMBER 19th 1968?
Even if they made over 500.............C500's, its still a bargain!
ps if its a Hemi-car please can I be next in line?
FLIPPERDEEDOODAH.
I'd love to get a C500 project, but the price on this car seems to be a bit on the high side. If you think about it... wasn't Stu's C500 only listed for $20k? And it looked a WHOLE lot better than this basket case. Granted his car did not have a fender tag, and this one does, there was still so much more of the car there to start with. One of these days, I'll find a real project C500 at a realistic price.

"CornDog"
Hi CornDog and all,
What is a good price for any rare car?
Once you set your mind to getting one, you just get 'the best one' for the money!
As with any rare limited edition cars you don't have a choice really.
Certain Collector folks always advertise for C500's with the hope of a cheapo turning up?
Maybe 20 years ago this could have happened.
The last ten years of Tinternet has killed any chance of this.
Flippers are on the lookout every minute of every day!!! :icon_smile_wink:
I have been caught a few times before, in a moment of weakness! :brickwall:
How's about these deals?
1969 Sixpack Superbee sold to friend for £2500.
1969 R/t Charger swapped for £500 and a Motorcycle (that I never got)!
1968 383 Charger sold to a dealer £1500.
1970 383 4-speed Cuda sold to a friend for £3800.
I know the Folks that got these cars are very happy, but I lost out BIGTIME.
So back to the C500 scenario, whats the best deal out there???
I offered mine to a friend for £25,000.
F8 Green 4-speed, dana, number matching engine.
99% rustfree in primer and will be ready to drive in the Spring!
FAIR price or FOUL?
500Jon
What is that in U.S. $
$25,000 x 1.5 plus shipping $1000!
Not dear not cheap, but hey its a 4-speed lol. :smilielol:
If you wait till the exchange rate is 1 to 1, its well cheapo lol! :2thumbs:
5J
$39,000 on todays rate!
Drive it to a show and see how many other C500's turn up??? :pigsfly:
that does not sound like a bad deal at all
I think so Husk!
Did you convert your 500 into a Daytona?
as I don't see one on your list LoL!
5J
nope. just haven,t updated my list.
Hi Husk,
Get that stunning car off the trailer and drive it LOL!
Trailer Queen free Zone please!!!
That was the day I brought it home. That clone was traded to Troy for his real charger 500. Sorry to say the black Daytona is no longer mine :'(
But now you have a real c500. Not to many people can say that :yesnod:
392 or fewer can say that
yep
I bought the CT project car, I think it's a good investment. Bought the rear window last year, went to Canada to get it. Collecting parts and saving funds to restore. Itching to get going. Want to get the rare trim that runs along the windshield.
A member, DonC1 can make you up a set.
Nice one Shelby!
Even in this 'Big-Brother' world we live in there are still unknown Mopars to be found! :chatting:
Avatar updates needed please LOL :2thumbs:

The strange thing about C500's is............?
They are mostly hidden away project cars!
That means there is hope for everyone still.
Can't be more than 100 left???
I have only ever seen 5 of 'em in over 30 years!!! :angelwing:
5J
Even with only 392 made, the number that was used for drag and street racing, I would think greatly effects the numbers left. I am also sure there are a few people out there who own more than 1. I would think there is less than 100 C500 owners???
I'll bet Danny or Ghost would be able to give a good estimate...
I love finding out the stories of the cars. My c500 sold in ct, abandoned when the owner skipped rent and left the car. Landlord parked it in private lot that flooded. Lots of parts were taken, guy I got it from was going to restore some day and collected parts. Now it's my goal to finish. Just not sure of what color. R4 or Omaha orange.
Love to see some pics Shelby.
Shelby I am 99.999999% sure your car was R4 from the factory.
As far as how many 500's are left I can say it's well over 100. I know of over 265 that are still around. And having seen over 200 of the, personally, I would venture to say that there is probably 175 to 190 different people who have one. Not as many people have more than one 500. If they have multiple aero cars they usually only have one 500.
I am sure you have a much better idea than me, but it is surprising that many survived. I rember watching Americarna and seeing two in Ray Evernhams collection. I assumed Mr. Wellborn had more than one. Does Jay Lenno own a C500? How many wing cars has your family owned over the years Danny?
Wing cars, 8. 5 daytona 3 Superbirds. 2 500's. Who knows how many other cars. 69 boss 429 mustang, 68 Hemi Roadrunner convertible, 70 hemi RT/SE charger, 71 440-6 4 speed Cuda. And more. As far as I know Tim only has the 1 500.
I have only seen 3 c500 in my life and I bought one last year!
I have probably seen 10 to 12 C500. I knew of the aero cars (thats what I meant when I asked Danny about wing cars) in the early eighties when I started getting into Mopars. Back then I always said if I had a 500 I would make it into a Daytona clone and no one would know it wasn't. Of course that was long before I knew of this site or the knowledgeable people like Danny, Geno and many others. Now I wouldn't think of making my 500 a Daytona or trying to pass any clone off as real. I go to some shows with my dad, and he would always say, You don't have to tell every one it's not real!.
So did anyone get this car?
A FORD Guy lol!
Whats a 600???
Is that a 70 remodelled 500 lol!
Only having fun 69_500 dude.............. :2thumbs:

I just checked the picture of the 04 Talladega reunion at which I counted 10, 500's and with various ones at other meets puts my 500 count to about 15 over the years. :popcrn:
