Title: Finally got my Daytona to Speed Week 2021!
Post by: Lifsgrt on August 25, 2021, 10:14:42 AM
Made a good showing! Went 187mph at the 2 1/4 on the short (3 mile) course right out of the trailer!
Ultimately went 229+ in mile 5 with a 230.973mph exit speed. Made the mistake of staying WOT to the 6 mile marker where there is no speed timer and burned a piston, so done for this year. A replacement piston is 12-16 weeks out, so no way to make World Finals in September. I did not have my headlight doors and buckets installed, so was not class legal. Learned a lot, should be able to break the A/Classic Production record next year. I highly encourage everyone to get to Bonneville while we still can. This was an epic adventure! I am attaching links to the 217mph run where the windshield caved in us a different camera of the 230.973mph run. On the final run I was shifting the 18-spline A833 without the clutch which worked much better! I have some work to do on the hood scoop! :2thumbs:

...and don't beat up on me about the rattle can stripe! I didn't want to waste the stripe decal kit I have since I didn't have time to do the body work on the car after hanging the panels. I just made it black and let it rip! The 80mph wind gusts Thursday evening were creating havoc on the salt. My wife cut out letters using the decal kit qs a template and we double-face taped the letters in place. I rattle canned the stripe between wind storms! So if you are waiting to get your junk show quality before you have fun with it, I recommend run what you have! It is a solid 30 footer!

Thanks for this update. You shouldn't have mentioned the paint job... I didn't even notice it.  :icon_smile_big:
Great job there! Can't wait to see what happens next year!

First, congrats. That is a big payday   :2thumbs:

Second, would love to hear more about the build. Specifically, it looks like you are not running any overdrive? So, what gear ratio and rear tire diameter are you using?

*** EDIT - Never mind the questions - I read the info in your other post ***
