Title: THE prices are falling hard folks
Post by: ACUDANUT on March 21, 2022, 01:41:26 PM
I saw way too many cool,  50 year old plus, cars selling for 1/2 of what it cost to build one on latest tv auction.
But wait...A new 2021 Ford bronco sold for 60K

Auction prices should always be taken with a huge grain of salt. Many use the auctions to move cars with numbers issues.

But if prices drop overall, hurray!

I'll be able to get more cars I want.  :icon_smile_big:

Doesn't seem like they are falling to me when I see 72 large for this turd.

These cars being worth more does incentivize the aftermarket to make parts for them.

This is good news. I have $150 saved up and I'm ready to buy another 69 Charger just like I did in 1979.

Ahhh.... the good ol days when the Dad/Mom/landlord or owner said "just take it, get it out of my yard, it's yours"

I did get several free cars, but never a free Charger..... dang it! I get eight Chargers in the $150-$600 range though.

I would STILL go up to $600 for a driver :icon_smile_cool:

I do remember getting a Charger for a 12 pack of beer way back when.  Probably about $4 back then.

Did it have a wing on the back, if not you paid way too much. I was buying 68-69 Chargers for $100 back then. The wing cars they couldn't give away.

Hi Mopar Nut,           09 May 2022

There was a time, albeit brief, they were difficult to sell. We did sell a Hemi Cuda quite easily using a creative ad in 1975. Now we wish we had never sold it. The heat of passion: We despised that car.

From our perspective, the prices have been climbing.

The market seems volatile so one never knows.

The secret to success: Buy low, sell Hi. Got that bit of wisdom from a stock broker on a flight from somewhere to someplace about 50 or more years ago.

Just don't wait too long before buying what you want. You ain't going to take that $green$ with you when your time is up. Spend it on yourself so when you check out, your last check bounces.

Best Always

It's been this way for a decade.

You sink 30K or so into a lesser desirable car and you are in the hole.
Come out even an a desirable car,
And ahead on a very desirable car.

And dumping a ton into a retro mod or clone has always been a losing prospect.

If people had spent 25K on a matching GTO and dumped 25K into, they often have a 50K car.
If they Spent 10K on a Lemans and dumped 25K into it, they have a 20K car.

With O'Biden in office. Gas is 5-10 bucks a gallon.  Who can afford to drive a antique these days.  :brickwall: :brickwall: :brickwall:

I had my Chrysler Newport convertible out today and burned a 1/2 tank of gas just goofing around.  No plans, No expectations, No problems.  The car gets roughly 10-11 MPG which isn't great but the ride is so much fun.   It's a gorgeous weekend here in SE Pa.  Tonight is a cruise night nearby.  I'll take a Lincoln LSC (12-14 MPG).  Tomorrow is an all GM show about 30 minutes away.  I'll take a 65 Impala.  It gets about 14-16 MPG - not horrible for an American V8.

I'd far rather have a shorter ride in a cool car than a long ride in a boring car!!

I agree. I don't drive my classics as daily drivers. The higher cost of fuel sucks but these assholes are not going to stop me from using these cars to have fun.
