cool car needs a bath tube style intake and a hemi , but very cool
I like it too. Wish i could find some tires like that but street legal. For now thats what I envision wanting to put on mine but Goodyear said they didn't make them.

:yesnod: i like that look too but i think ya gotta cut the wheel wells to fit them
I wouldn't want to go that wide on the front to cut wells but them big white letters would fit just fine. :icon_smile_big:
like that :drool5:

Not a good pic, I know. The tires are Hoosiers. We sanded off the raised lettering & painted the Good Year on using a stencil. Street legal!
Sweet Ride. Looks like it would be a great candidate for conversion to a road racer.........Silver State Challange? What say you Rallye Mike? :scratchchin: :shruggy:
It is a very cool car !!!!!!!!!! But what in the world was he thinking ????????? An automatic ??????????? Get a girl who can drive a stick !!!!!

Nice job. that is pretty cool. What Hoosiers did you use? Or do they only make one street tire?
Sorry I do not know the tire size Pocket Thunder. I sanded n painted the tires, did alot of wrenching on the car for that
last minute push to get it ready for Power Tour 96. Had a blast even when in the support vehicle - but did not get the
tire size.
I say, look around for the size that best suits your needs & go for it - with pics of course!!!
Quick side note, the stencils were hand made from blown up computer images. These days your local sign shop should
be able to streamline this process ;)
I may be Dodge Material: but that SuperBird really ROCKS :drool5:
If it were mine, it would see the street...
This is a thing of beauty. I would also get it on the streets, I would do the bare minimum to do so, but it would most certainly hit the streets.
whay you guys think its worth? :shruggy: i say 35000.
QuoteIf it were mine, it would see the street...
:yesnod: me too . although i would have a hell of a problem getting in and out through the window opening. :rotz:
Here's an older pic of the car. Looks like they changed the graphics a little.

I would also be window challenged like you
At 52 years old, I'm not as limber as I once was, but I can still jump into a dragster without any problems. Of course I've jumped into and climbed out of my funny car and four dragsters a whole lot over the last 30 years. Now this new super comp firebird may be my un-doing. We'll see.
:hack: Cut those wheelwells! It looks better than the pro street look.
Wow, that is a nice car. I'd have to do the minimum it would take to make it street legal though, it'd be ashame not to drive it.
my buddy wayne had this to say
I have seen this car at several shows, very nice. With a little work it could be street legal, it has a VIN.

Wow! :o That looks awesome!!
Is that the route you're taking Howie?
Except for being more period correct & street legal of course.
That was my idea to go with but plans have changed radically and is is getting a serious :hack: job. Hemi power non the less.

With your new plan, even the term "radically" seems to be an understatement. :icon_smile_big:

I`ll get some pics up pretty soon. No lambo doors and wet bar. And no bling bling wheels. Just old school :hack:..

Ya I found it ! Very nice - I was thinking the same thing.... road racer. I better go buy a lottery ticket. Actually, I have enough trouble keeping one open road race car going, and I'm pretty well attached to my 72.
For a road car, the 727 with reverse valve body would have to go.

Hey Howie, I havnt seen your car before and its got my attention. Are you gonna race it or is it just for show?
I`m gonna race it, show it, and drive the wheels off of it. One thing it will have is 15x 10 wheels all the way around. I sold my nose and wing to Larry(hotrod) and bought an aluminum Dane wing. The steel nose should be done before long. I also know of one other charger that is going under the knife now that will be road raced. I hooked him up with a dominator top for his bathtub intake. He is runing the 4.5 x 4.5 stroked hemi. It will be one bad ride. I will post pics of it too.
Excellent. I'll be watching for your pics :popcrn:
This is what his induction looks like
This is what is going on mine. Stuart hooked me up with the guys at holley and the carb has been totally gone through and looks like it was made yesterday. :2thumbs:. I too will be runing a stroked hemi with stage 5 heads.
Here is a photo of Larry's nose. It is not finished yet but it will be in about a week. I will have some photos of my K&K 71 in a week. The engine will be on the Dyno next week. We hope it will make 700+ hp and 800+ ft\lbs. It is a 572 that has a new world block, Ray Barton heads, the nascar bathtube intake with a 1050 holley that Howie posted, a nice big rollercam and 9.5 to 1 for pump gas. The tranny is a 833 .71 O.D. in an iron box, with a twin disc clutch. The rear end is a 8 3/4 with nascar floater with 2.76's. The chassis is all old school with parts from Petty , Buddy Baker, Allison, and Cotton Owens. Howie is getting copies of most of the parts.

That's my buddy Dave's car. Reserve is set at $ 50,000. He builds race cars from the ground up (Grand Stock) and didn't skimp on the build. That was a three year project, much of the time waiting for a nose cone and rear window plug from a guy in Texas (Can't recall the name of the fabricator). Built from an old, tired GTX or Roadrunner, he took it all the way down and had it dipped, then put it all back together to race car specs. Dave is a builder, not a driver. He put an automatic in it because his wife wanted to drive it at the track parade events. He has $ 50K into the build, didn't account for any labor and it took him 3.5 years to complete.. It sounds absolutely insane when you start it up on those open headers. You'll stand next to where those headers exit exactly one time when it starts up, and after that will back off a respectful distance or be on the other side of the car. He and I spoke a long time about buying a 426 Hemi for it, but we couldn't find anything for under $ 10K and so it got the 440 instead - it was just bumping up against his project at that pointl. I'm sure if anyone wanted a 426 and a manual trans he could put it in but they'd have to source it, he set the car up to have quick engine/trans and rear end swaps. It really is a thing of beauty, and parked among ordinary street 'Birds it steals the show. It never had any track time, has only been taken to a few events for parade laps and parking lot staging. It NEEDS to get out and be run!
Damn, Larry has big nose !
wayne perkins put a bathtub intake on his 99 dow daytona over the winter , It looks awesome
pictures just for you howie buddy , and his new awesome nascar style gas can
more those are real nascar style valve covers !

Thanks stuart, I am itchin to get mine a going again. Soon. Here is another shot of the nose that was posted :drool5:.
