Title: hi can any one assist with decoding my 727 trans

nos are  on left side pan 2892090L 2615 1625 on both side of bellhousing as follows 754-5 and no 68 above the 12boxes any feed back would be fantastic

2892090 is for a 1969 Chrysler, Dodge or Plymouth with the 383 2bbl engine.

2615 equates to September 24, 1968 on the 10,000 day calendar.  That's the assembly date of the transmission itself.

1625 means it was the 1625th transmission built on that particular day.

I'm not 100% sure about the other numbers, although it's possible the 12 boxes with a '68' above them could represent the month your transmission case was cast and the '68' representing the year (1968).  Try looking in the 12 boxes to see how many have a mark within the box.  My guess is you'll find 6 to 8 of them are filled... but in any event there should not be more than 9 of the boxes filled - based on the assembly date noted above.

I think I can help, it's a 2 barrel 383 trans out of one of the most rusty Australian dodge Phoenix's I think I ever saw lol  :smilielol:, going to go in what will be a nice heavy optioned 68 RT
