Title: 71 Dodge Charger oil pan, will it hurt to run 6qt instead of 7qt 472 hemi
Post by: chapel40 on January 22, 2020, 01:25:48 PM
Will it hurt to run stock mopar high capacity 6qt instead of 7qt on a high performance street 472 hemi. may bring it to track a couple times. Don't want oil pan dragging the ground.

If you have a stock oil pump and are not spinning it to 7k, it will be fine. High volume and high rpm- more oil.

I suppose turning it 7000rpm requires a high volume oil pump? It was run on the dyno at 6500. what do you suggest?

Just take it down the track and time it for fun. Street car. Not consistently, yes same car.
