Title: '98 Ram 5.7: fault codes and fixing: TDC and convertor clutch
Post by: hemi68charger on November 02, 2011, 04:43:34 PM
Hey gang..
My "check engine" light came on today... Soooooooo, I ran by my nearby Advance Auto and had a fault-code reader ran..

It came up with:
P0743 - Torque Converter Clutch Solenoid Circuit Electrical

&

P1281 - "No TDC Definition found" or "The engine is staying cold too long - check your thermostat"

The truck is a '98 Ram SS/T with 5.9 L (360)... Are any of these items I can tackle myself? I'm going to go look in my Service Manual now, but like to get feedback from ya'll that may have actually repaired the error...

Cheers,
Troy
