Got the cutting wheels out today and this was the result.

I painted this car when I was 19, did what I could with the money I had at the time. Now that I've got the resources it's getting the resto that it deserves. I'm replaceing the goodmark trunk panel i installed several years ago and I'm replacing it as well as the quarters, tailpanel, Dutchman ect... With new AMD parts. More pics as progress continues.

Well after discovering that AMD makes these trunk pans 1/2" too short I had had to extend it to get everything to line up right.

Now it lines up with the quarter cap.

Weld ground down.... Can't even tell.

Welded up the gas tank brackets

Also got to try out my spot welder on the spare tire bracket.

Just need to do some sandblasting and I can weld this thing in.

Thanks!
Was finally able to get some blasting done. Just about ready to spray some epoxy inside the rails then this trunk gets spot welded in place.

Trunk will get one last test fit tomorrow then i will apply the weld through primer on the tops of the rails and underside of trunk floor. Then time to start spot welding.

It is nice but I am a little worried that the welds that I need to use the long 18" tongs on are not the greatest. May have to mig in between the spot welds.

If your worried about the spot weld not clamping tight enough you can hold the tigger for a few seconds longer. And you should be able to adjust the tention. I have a spot welder at work and it looks the same as yours.

Tried just about everything with the 18" tongs.... More pressure less pressure, more trigger time ect... They just don't put out the current that the smaller tongs do. Maybe I need to try out a lenco or something besides the 220v miller.

My only other idea is to do some plug welds by drilling holes in one of the two pieces and then use a mig welder to fill the hole. :Twocents:
