Title: re doing Superbird interior
Post by: 4spdwing on January 26, 2010, 11:27:11 AM
I decided to redo my Superbird interior. The car is a driver. It is fun driving like it is but the seats are ripped so I am just going to the interior. I already have everything I need. I'm laid off so I was looking to do something. I will post some pics and any suggestions would be great. Thanks Tom

once your ready to stretch the new seat covers on your seats , Put them in a pillow case tie the end , and throw them in the dryer for 5-10 minutes. They will stretch right on your seat and be ready for the hogs rings.  Do it quickly they cool down fast .

Also, slide a plastic garbage bag over the foam, particularly for the seat back.  It will help the cover slide right on, then just pull out as much of the garbage bag as you can and forget about the rest.

Good Luck with the car, and finding employment.

Thanks for the ideas. I like the drier one. I was wondering how to warm them up when I put them on.  As for a job I was driving a cement mixer and the owner decided to close the plant there's just no construction going on but it looks like I will be driving a roll off for him soon probably about a month.  Dave I was a good painter but I can't paint anymore. I couldn't take the fumes.  The console is almost done. ;D ;D

That white stripe was probably a auto parts cal custom add your own decal It was on the car when Tom picked it up in 1999

The white stripe is painted on and was on the car when I bought it in 1999.  The car is basically the same as when I bought. I did put a rebuilt 440 in a few years ago. Tom

Actually I have the build sheet and it is supposed to have road wheels on it. I have a picture somewhere with them on it that the guy gave me when I bought the car. I have rim, new ceter caps and trim rings. Here's a pic the day I brought it home. Tom

I finished the console today. The only new parts are the boot and carpet. I painted the console. I polished the chrome and stripped and repainted the black strips and new woodgrain. I still need to put the carpet on the sides but I'm going to wait till I am about to put it in the car so the console's not sitting on it. I alsoput the light in on the driver's side so I don't lose it. I need to find a screw for the lock too. Tom

Tom, that is a great Superbird. I love the color combo. I dig used muscle cars that have a little patina on 'em.
