Looking to eliminate the rear bumperettes on the '73. With that, I want to eliminate the bumperette mounting slots in the rear valance.
Was about to order a new 71 valance from AMD and they tell me that the quarters for 71/72/73 are different (duh, but I thought it was due to the quarter windows and marker lights) and therefore the rear valance is not interchangeable.
Has anyone done this? Are they really not interchangeable?

Maybe they mean they are not interchangeable because the bumperette slots would be different on earlier models. I thought they were the same.
But if you ask over at the third gen forum, certainly someone has tried it over there. :popcrn:
perfect fit on everything. Don't worry about that. The only reason hey are diff is the one mentioned by Odzking. Althought 71/72 also got bumperettes, the bottom bracket is diff and sway the rear valence
Here's a 73/74 rear valance on my 72.

And the 71/72 installed. You will have no issues.

There are a total of 4 rear valances that cover 71-74 Chargers. They will all bolt on each application however they wouldn't be correct appearance wise when crossing between 71-2 vs 73-4.
Here are the 4:
1. 71-72 rear valance with exhaust tip cutouts.
2. 71-72 rear valance w/o exhaust tip cutouts.
3. 73-74 rear valance with exhaust tip cutouts.
4. 73-74 rear valance w/o exhaust tip cutouts.
