Title: fender tag question

The line of numbers at the top left is missing on my Superbird fender tag.  That's the gate number and some kind of assembly number.  Is this a factory mistake?  The tag appears to be original.

My tag starts off with the engine and transmission codes.  It's definitely the original tag for this car.
