Title: E.P.A. Superbird for Sale ?
Post by: nascarxx29 on November 17, 2008, 09:13:53 PM
Received my new Hemmings Motor News today. In the front section (color pages) there's a half page ad for a 70 Superbird which will be available for auction or sale (not really clear which) in January '09. Says it was built by Ray Nichels of NASCAR fame, for the EPA, for air pollution testing  Also claims that this car "initiated the elimination of leaded gas"  At any rate, get your bids in early, as I have no doubt that there will be very spirited bidding starting at the $5M minimum bid

An interesting read and lots of pics but I think I'm out of the bidding.  BTW, I thought leaded gas was banned because it plugged catalytic converters?

Its a true story. The thing followed jets off runways to measure their emissions. No Ford or Chebby was fast enough. :D
