Replacement speedo because of the red tenths digit. It is a low mileage car, but not what is being claimed. Car has been "offered" at unrealistic prices for years.

Aero426, you amaze me. Before I can even take a leak, you proved this 480 mile car to be bogus. Good for you buddy, it is guys like you that make these forums amazing!
Keep up the good work.
Here's an older photo. As it is a repainted, but not restored car, it would be interesting to go over with a fine tooth comb. Many details are sure to remain.

Wow! 10,000 miles back then looks better than the 480 miles it has now. Doc from "back to the future" must of had a hard ride back in time with this Daytona. The car looks more worn with 480 miles than it did with 10,000 LOL
But having said all that, it still a real low mile car, right?
I saw it years ago when it was displayed in the Museum of Transportation in Brookline, MA. Two years ago, when I had my Daytona at a local show, "the owner" came up to me and struck up a conversation with me about this car. However, it wasn't the guy in the picture.
Dang thing doesn't even have its windshield deflectors..........
Isn't that vinyl top a very rare option for a Daytona?

Very interesting! I live in the Boston area, visited the museum of transportation in the 90's, there was a Mercury Cyclone there too with a weird nose if I remember correctly. I have pictures and video of it somewhere.. Is it a Northeast car?
I would be scared to buy a car that no one has wanted to own for the last 45 years. :D

Ya thats the one!!
Pretty cool car really. It is a shame that the odometer was changed. It would be nice if they kept the old one with the car.
I would rather the car not have the vinyl roof but I think I could live with it. I would however have to do something with the stripe and Daytona lettering. That lettering somehow has a way of making the whole car look goofy.
Again she is a nice colour combo....so What would it be worth as it sits....$150k? more....less :shruggy:

That's about the ball park I was thinking. They just swapped the 80's mag wheels for proper Mag 500s. Fixing the stripe would also go a long way. I'd bet that it's all painted on.
It also has what appears to be a rhino lining undercoat on the bottom.
My opinion is it is a $125k car as it sits. Last I heard though owner wanted closer to $300k.
Buy it now says half a million.
the guy selling it says he has it listed for a friend....and that he knows nothing about the car
480 miles and in storage for 45 years yet it needed a repaint? and the seats look like they have had lots of butts sitting on them for only having 480 miles. Maybe dreamers used to sit in them and pretend they were driving it.

Translation: Can't be pinned down for misleading the buyer.
I believe Ron Kornet is the guy that owns that Daytona.

I wonder if he ever owned a Coronet? :shruggy:
Half a million for a 45 year old car with no title? :shruggy:
It has the mfg certificate, whoever buys it can be the first title it should they so choose.

My apologies, didn't catch it.
It would probably fetch 1/2 million if it really had 480 miles, but this car has more stories than RED FISHER, EH!~!

I doubt it, not the way that interior looks, and the rear stripe is wrong.....plus probably a number of other items that are not being brought out in the ad
If it really had 480 miles though I'd hope those problems weren't there.

Well there is a Daytona out there with close to the 480 miles mentioned here, and it did not bring the $500k figure last I heard.

wow, which one has mileage that low ?
sadly, a hemi four-speed with 480 miles would be hard pressed to bring that much coin these days
:popcrn:
:woohoo: screen capture worked again ;D
:popcrn:
I really do not like the vinyl top add ons for those cars in any way. :eek2:
In those pics it sure does look like the vinyl roof is dark blue. I am not a fan either.
Here's a quick question, where would they have got custom stainless steel trim made up back in the day? I could only imagine how much that would cost today.
Or would they have modified factory pieces from other applications?
Dave
my guess is the trim is a universal, "off a roll" type of material, rather than formed metal
My guess too, when I sold cars there were guys that came around to the dealers that offered that stuff. They would do tops or side mouldings or custom tape stripes, all kinds of crap.
Elmer's car around 500 miles on it, give or take a few. At least last time I saw it that is what it had.
